There is an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced Project/Program Manager to join the American Express Privacy Center of Excellence Project Management Office (PMO) – part of International Operational Excellence.

The Privacy COE PMO serves as a central hub for project oversight, governance, and support, ensuring that projects are prioritized and executed effectively. It centralizes information and delivers it to the right stakeholders. It ensures that stakeholders and Legal Entities make informed and timely decisions for the success of the projects.

How will you make an impact in this role?

  • Develop & implement a communications strategy to keep the relevant stakeholders, at different levels, informed of the Privacy Program and project developments and progress.
  • Track project health across the Privacy Program, creating dashboards and metrics that provide visibility into progress and performance to help identify improvements, risks and communicate decisions. E.g.,
  • Overall progress and health of Privacy projects and program enhancements,
  • Status of milestones and deliverables across the portfolio,
  • Project risks and progress on mitigating these risks,
  • Financial information about Privacy technology capacity and Opex budget, forecast, actuals etc.
  • Develop and enforce consistent project management processes, methodologies, and tools across the Privacy COE to help optimize project delivery.
  • Organize and arrange the Privacy Operating Forum and other Privacy Program update meetings, creating materials and completing and storing minutes of meetings accordingly.
  • Monitor external regulatory and industry developments to determine impacts to Privacy program activities (e.g., RCM items with Privacy risk).
  • Act as point of escalation for the overall Privacy Program.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with multiple teams, project managers and key stakeholders.
  • Provide coaching and development for project managers to improve adherence to project management standards and methodology.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical skills and rigor and be able to source and interpret data in a meaningful way to present a compelling story and support decision making.
  • Effective leadership and interpersonal skills plus outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to craft messages that clearly and succinctly communicate key messages for internal and external audiences.
  • Strong executive presence, effective communicator at senior executive level with long standing experience of senior stakeholder presentations a must
  • The ability to create a sense of community amongst the members of the project teams and to command respect with senior leaders and key stakeholders.
  • A broad knowledge of and experience championing the use of best practice project and program management standards and processes.
  • The ability to distil external regulatory communications into key messages, being able to focus on key points of importance to the program and company.
  • Exceptional Program Management skills with 6+ years’ experience of leading large, complex delivery programs in the financial services sector
  • The ability to retain a big picture focus, whilst knowing when there is a need to drill down into the detail.
  • A high degree of confidence and a willingness to admit when support or expertise is required.
  • Strong competence in the use of Microsoft packages, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to produce accurate and well-presented text, data, and pictorial reports.
