The Process Controlled Transportation team supports the Global Logistics Function in protecting products throughout our supply chain, from manufacturing site to patient! We do this by proactively mitigating risks through transportation process controls and issues management within a complex logistics environment.

We have an exciting opportunity for a summer intern to join the Process Controlled Transportation team for a period of 12 weeks, during which you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work on, and contribute to, the delivery of complex global projects
  • Develop an understanding of how the AstraZeneca global supply chain functions
  • Network with logistics and supply chain specialists within a truly global team
  • Build your understanding of how to operate within a GxP environment

The primary responsibilities of this role are:

To support the implementation of our Lane Risk Assessment (LRA) Digitisation project. This project is a “must-win” initiative which forms a key part of our Digital journey 2024 and supports the Global Logistics team’s Bold Ambition strategy. Lane Risk Assessments allow us to understand our routes to customer and to assess risks in how we transport our goods throughout the AstraZeneca supply chain around the world. In addition, our Lane Risk Assessments will help us to understand our environmental impact and therefore help us to achieve our important Sustainability targets.

The creation of GDP-compliant documentation using the new Lane Risk Assessment system in order to support AZ’s licence to operate.

Communicate with global stakeholders to understand local procedures and to document these within the new Lane Risk Assessment platform.

  • To support our Temperature Management Business Process Owner (BPO) in preparing and delivering project communications.
  • Performing data analysis in order to provide key business intelligence and KPI information.
  • Communicate this data with global stakeholders in an easy-to-understand format and sharing key business insights.

You will have the opportunity to:

Gain and understanding of the steps involved in an AstraZeneca project and gain knowledge of the AstraZeneca Project Management Framework (PMF) within a global network.

Improve your interpersonal and networking skills with global teams through collaboration in online and in-person meetings with both internal and external teams.

Gain an understanding of the AZ supply chain and how PCT and GLF function and support supply from our manufacturing centres to our patients around the world.

A successful candidate should ideally have:

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong IT skills/ digitally literate
  • The ability to learn quickly
  • Strong communication skills

Working hours are outlined below:

Mon - Fri 37.5 hours approx. per week between the hours of 08:00 – 17:00 as required
