Precision Medicine and BioSamples within AstraZeneca focuses on matching medicines to those patients who will benefit from them most and delivers companion or complementary diagnostic assays that align with the drug development process and enable personalised healthcare approaches within our clinical portfolio.

The Project, Portfolio & Alliances (PPA) group within Precision Medicine & Biosamples (PMB), is accountable for providing project, portfolio and alliance management expertise to the AZ Precision Medicine and HBS portfolio; to ensure successful delivery of diagnostic & R&D projects, and key strategic capability build/ transformation programmes that bring innovative new approaches to our portfolio.

The PMB Ireland Transformation Lead is a critical leadership role working in close collaboration with SVP, PMB and has responsibility for developing and driving the business case to craft the future of PMB in Ireland. You will collaborate with key internal partners within AZ and Alexion Ireland to build a compelling case for the delivery of novel companion diagnostic tests to target precision medicines to patients and/ or to enable early detection of disease.

You will develop overarching project and risk mitigation plans, ensure robust management for the programme budget, and define and communicate a compelling benefits realisation plan to evidence return on investment for the case.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

Accountable to develop, gain endorsement and drive implementation of a compelling business case for Precision Medicine Ireland

  • Develop an overarching project plan that brings together multiple inputs from local and global workstreams to visualise and track transformation achievements

  • Collaborate with key customers to build the benefits realisation plan

  • Create progress reports to track transformation delivery vs business case to cost, time and quality objectives, inc provision of quarterly scorecard updates

  • Develop and deliver customer engagement strategies and plans

  • Lead programme level risk assessment process; drive mitigations across key customers and communicate to senior leaders/ Steerco

  • Robust management of budget and FTE for overarching transformation investment including collobaration with Finance to provide quarterly updates of phasing for resource and achievements

  • Develop communications plan to share progress and to drive implementation

  • Efficient operational running of transformation team/ steerco meetings e.g. developing prioritised agenda, strong facilitation to drive decision making, action/ risk management to deliver strategic priorities

  • Owns and maintains transformation documentation repository ensuring logical structure to enable ease of input/ retrieval of programme information (primarily SharePoint Online/ MST)

Essential Requirements:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience of strategy development and implementation

  • Validated experience of maintaining delivery across a high number of multifaceted projects, in a sophisticated business environment

  • Collaboration and influencing at all levels inc senior leadership

  • Critical thinking and the ability to align projects with business goals

  • Evidence of strong financial management of sophisticated budgets with multiple cost lines

  • Evidence of leading and developing innovative solutions that positively impact delivery

  • Ability to influence others without authority including at senior levels

Desirable Requirements:

  • Understanding of Precision Medicine concepts and technical and regulatory framework

  • Degree in relevant field or equivalent experience

  • Recognised Project Management qualification (e.g. PMP)

  • Project Management experience within a global pharmaceutical or diagnostics company
