Introduction to role:

Join us as a EMEA Regional SHE Director – Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) in our Operations team. This role is pivotal in driving strong SHE programs and developing a regional strategy for achieving SHE performance targets. As the regional lead for SHE supporting regional sites in the UK, France, Ireland and Egypt, you will provide subject matter expertise, serve as a communication channel to/from Global SHE and sites, and lead the sharing of good practice & improvement ideas from across the region and globally.

Accountabilities:

As a SHE Director, you will represent the region on global SHE networks, ensure adherence to the global standards & processes within the region, and provide training, expert advice and coaching to the region. You will also facilitate 2-way communications between the process users and the global Business Process Owner (BPO), contribute ideas for simplification & improvement of the global process, and manage relationships & communications with key regional stakeholders.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in engineering, science, or safety/environmental management

  • Professional certification in Safety, Health and Environment/Sustainability with a passion for self-development and continuous learning.

  • Validated SHE leadership experience

  • Professional background, knowledge and experience in all aspects of SHE

  • Ability to develop and implement strategies for sustainable and scalable business processes

  • Ability to influence senior leaders and collaborators

  • Ability to lead and drive cultural change through process and capability improvement

  • Experience of managing a team across 2 or more countries

  • Experience of working within a manufacturing/industrial environment

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Ability to influence senior collaborators including those external to AZ.

  • Existing strong networks internally and externally to AZ with particular focus on SHE.

  • Risk Management expertise and knowledge

  • Knowledge / practitioner of Lean techniques including process mapping, practical problem solving, standard work, and visual management.

  • Confident and skilled in applying Human and Organisational Performance principles to reduce risk, especially as applied to event learning.
