We have a fantastic opportunity within our Train Service Delivery team for a Shunter based at Cambridge

The Role

You will be responsible for the safe and efficient working of all movements and shunting within Cambridge Carriage Sidings and other locations under the instructions of the Carriage Siding Supervisor. You will also be required to operate a “points” panel to control the train movements for washing of trains.

As part of this position, you will be required to collaborate with Train Crew, Signallers, and other colleagues on matters relating to working within Cambridge Carriage Siding, using safe radio protocols where appropriate. The role will also require you to carry out various other duties to maintain standard compliance, ensure security, and a good standard of cleanliness within the Carriage Sidings.

There is a requirement to wear the protective clothing which will be provided.

The successful applicant will be required to attend a medical, as all offers are subject to passing a safety critical medical.

What we are looking for

We are looking for a colleague who has a flexible approach (in their working hours) as this role includes a combination of different shifts, with a heavy commitment to night shifts, weekend, and bank holiday working. You should have the ability to provide a good standard of literacy and communication skills. You will be required to undertake initial training, including any further update training as required.

The successful colleague should feel comfortable to undertake assessments whilst in the role.
