European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) is a new rail signalling system being rolled out in the United Kingdom, with the aim of offering a more reliable signalling system that will increase capacity and speeds, ultimately providing a better rail service for our passengers. GTR are playing a huge role, and we looking for experienced engineers to join us as we set up upgrading our rolling stock to be compatible with ERTMS signalling.

We are looking for an ERTMS Engineering Subject Matter Expert to join our growing ERTMS team as they drive forward the future of railway signalling. This person will be responsible for GTR's ongoing ERTMS development at a business and industry level, assisting and guiding towards a greater understanding of ERTMS and the recognition of the benefits.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years working on traction and rolling stock.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience working on ERTMS onboard system configuration and integration.

Knowledge:

  • In-depth knowledge base of ERTMS systems globally, application configurations and technical integration.
  • Must be chartered or working towards membership through a monitored professional development scheme, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and standards framework in relation to rolling stock.

Skills:

  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Competent with Microsoft office.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Great with data, reporting and analysis.
