European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) is a new rail signalling system being rolled out in the United Kingdom, with the aim of offering a more reliable signalling system that will increase capacity and speeds, ultimately providing a better rail service for our passengers. GTR are playing a huge role, and we looking for experienced engineers to join us as we set up upgrading our rolling stock to be compatible with ERTMS signalling.

We are looking for an ETCS Wireless Communications Engineer to join our growing ERTMS onboard team. The ETCS Wireless Comms Engineer is responsible for monitoring, reporting and development of improvement programmes for performance of GSM/GSMR Voice and Data applications across GTR fleets. This role will be based out of our Hornsey Engineering Depot, but you would be required to travel across depots.

Experience:

• A minimum of 5 years working on traction and rolling stock.

Knowledge:

• Strong knowledge of modern communications systems and development.
• Must be chartered or working towards membership through a monitored professional development scheme, or equivalent.
• Knowledge of regulatory and standards framework in relation to rolling stock.

Skills:

• Excellent organisational skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Competent with Microsoft office.
• Good numeracy and literacy skills.
• Great with data, reporting and analysis.
