About the Role

The Technical Consultant is a key player in the Consultancy team, providing expert technical and integration consultancy and solution design to our lenders at all phases and stages of delivery. The role involves working across multiple client projects, may include having responsibility for leading a client workstream and will involve working on client sites as required.

Iress has a strong client service ethos and the role will require the individual to build relationships - primarily at the technical level - in order to solve the technical problems of prospective and actual clients. This may involve working closely with more senior colleagues to support pre and post-sales scenarios, and with less senior colleagues to help support and grow the Consultancy team.

Your objectives and responsibilities will focus on…

  • Engaging with customers (new and existing) with all technical aspects of MSO and where relevant including pre-sales support.

  • Working closely with Internal teams, Clients and Partners to define and deliver the most effective and efficient solution to our customers. Acting as primary point of contact for on and off site activities and provision of technical guidance pre and post implementation.

  • Provide client management/stakeholder management whilst remaining responsive to client needs managing expectations, ensuring realistic achievable targets are set and managed.

  • Attending client meetings and presenting the key strategic Iress architectures.

  • Planning elements of the customer engagement process, including facilitating workshops, producing minutes, actions and seeing these through to completion.

  • Supporting senior colleagues in assessing fit of solutions to customers.

  • Actively identifying and supporting continual improvements, standardisation across clients, establishing efficiencies and optimising processes and enabling scale. Identifying opportunities for providing value added services and additional sales opportunities and informing the Client Delivery/Sales team.

  • Contributor to client’s end-to-end design document and for maintaining Iress’ solution design documents.

  • Recording and escalating the technical risks, technical assumptions and technical decisions made during the engagement.

  • Contributing to the Consultancy team, - e.g. participating in various initiatives, activities and meetings, working with other members of the team to build and share knowledge.

To be successful in this role you will…

You will have experience of working in a technical / solutions design or commensurate role ideally within a commercial software house or supplier environment with financial services.

Be self-motivated with a ‘can do’ attitude. You will take a pragmatic and proactive approach to problem solving testing the status quo. You will be analytical and logical, demonstrating flexibility in approach and mind-set.

Ability to work on own or as part of a wider team managing changing priorities, handling multiple tasks across multiple projects, operating in a high pressure environment with tight deadlines whilst maintaining quality and driving outcomes.

Through your experience you will have developed an empathetic approach to clients. You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills to talk with key contacts at all levels.

Experience of writing and producing technical client facing documentation and presentations, including technical design documentation and specifications, planning and facilitating workshops.

Experience of at least 2 projects through the full life cycle of requirements definition, construction, implementation and post implementation support. With experience of development of enterprise scale multi-tier web based solutions, ideally in a Microsoft .NET environment. Along with exposure to other application / software architecture and Object Oriented development with knowledge of Service Oriented Architectures (SOA)

A Background that includes the following would be beneficial:

  • Experience of Financial services software products and services e.g. Financial Planning, Wealth Management, Mortgage processing, Credit Cards, Insurance.

  • Knowledge of Point of Sale processes and solutions○Experience of Microsoft C# and server-based technologies such as MVC / WebAPI and ASP.NET.

  • Experience of RESTful and traditional Web Services on Microsoft and non-Microsoft platforms.

  • Experience of Web technologies such as JavaScript / JSON, AJAX, HTML(5) and CSS.

  • Experience of RDBMS – Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle and Stored Procedures, T-SQL
