Join our Capital Advisory Group, Hedge Fund Consulting Team, an advisory to our hedge fund clients on all their non-investment business decisions. Cognizant of the challenges our clients face in the evolving marketplace, we work closely with various industry bodies and service providers to incorporate the latest trends and best practices into our clients’ day-to-day business. Our hedge fund consulting team located in New York, London and Hong Kong.

Job Responsibilities

As an Executive Director in Hedge Fund Consulting Team, you will be a key member of a cross functional pitch team by producing start-up materials and providing consulting services to founders and their COOs as they launch their new business. You will provide consulting services on the core aspects of hedge fund establishment. This can include but is not limited to budgeting, fund formation, operational setup, technology and trading infrastructure and vendor introductions. You will be at the at the forefront of pitches to win mandates.

Specially, you’ll have the chance to:

  • Assist managers by advising on best practice for creating internal policies and procedures, and help with infrastructure and office space needs
  • Provide consulting services across all non-investment functional areas including Legal, Compliance, Technology, Middle & Back Operations, Risk Management, Portfolio & Partnership Accounting, HR & Administration
  • Act as a knowledge source to assist managers in preparation for operational due diligence
  • Perform benchmarking exercises across several areas and best practice reviews focused on non-investment areas for client c-suite personnel
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for the management and execution of client events and a thought leader in the industry
  • Help hedge fund managers navigate the ecosystem of service providers by identifying and investigating relevant services and technologies that might improve their business or help them to grow into a new market.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • You bring significant experience working in the alternative investment industry or capital markets with a working knowledge of hedge fund business strategy, financing, regulatory compliance, technology infrastructure, governance, trading and operations.
  • You can demonstrate a direct experience gained either on a Prime Brokerage Consulting desk or relevant experience of advising hedge funds on multiple aspects of their business in a management consulting role or experience gained within a hedge fund manager
  • You have in-depth knowledge of the hedge fund industry, wider trends with asset raising, issues facing hedge fund management firms as they grow
  • You are proud of your ability to analyse data from multiple data sources (qualitative and quantitative) and a proven ability to synthesise and communicate a complex subject matter, both verbally and written format ultimately to present to the client base
  • You demonstrate proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint
  • Your excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, can engage and influence partners and stakeholders; You are good at communicating concepts and ideas, also via documentation, and you are keen to defend their validity and tailor messages to different audiences

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • You bring strong C-suite level relationships/networks at hedge fund managers across different strategy sleeves
  • You can distil industry patterns and trends arising from client and team interactions, and transforming them into actionable content
  • You’re enthusiastic working individually or in teams, undertaking research/self-study, designing surveys and ultimately producing thought leadership and content
  • You’re interested in planning and executing Capital Advisory Group events, ranging from global conferences to bespoke local events

This role encompasses the performance of UK regulated activity. The successful candidate will therefore be subject to meeting UK regulatory requirements in the assessment of fitness, propriety, knowledge and competence (as assessed by the Firm) and (where appropriate) approval by the UK Financial Conduct Authority and/or the Prudential Regulation Authority to carry out such activities.
