As a Principal Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Technology Engineering and Architecture team, you provide expertise and engineering excellence as an integral part of an agile team to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. Leverage your advanced technical capabilities and collaborate with colleagues across the organization to drive best-in-class outcomes across various technologies to support one or more of the firm’s portfolios.

Job responsibilities

  • Engages with stakeholders to break down complex and ambiguous problems into technical specifications that an engineering team can implement
  • Leads and participates in regular technical meetings, ensuring that architectural decisions align with the broader organizational goals and strategy
  • Owns and delivers end-to-end cutting-edge solutions leveraging the latest technologies and the best industry practices
  • Designs and implements technical solutions written in Java
  • Develops secure, high quality, full-stack production code; reviews and debugs code
  • Serves as the function’s go-to subject matter expert
  • Supports the products built through their entire life cycle, including production and incident management
  • Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
  • Champions the firm’s culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
  • Influences not just the technology strategy but shapes the product as well

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on Software Engineering concepts and expert applied experience
  • Expert knowledge of the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) including system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Expert knowledge in developing, debugging, and maintaining code with modern programming languages and database querying languages
  • Expert knowledge with server-side languages and frameworks (Java/SpringBoot)
  • Experience building solutions on at least one Cloud platform
  • Experience of integration technologies (e.g., GraphQL, REST, SNS, MQ etc..)
  • Experience of NoSQL/SQL database technologies (e.g., MongoDB Atlas, DynamoDB, Postgres etc..)
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security
  • Ability to present and effectively communicate with Senior Leaders and Executives

  • Financial Services experience
