Tech for Social Good (TFSG) believe the success of our firm depends on the success of the communities we serve. Our mission is to drive impact in the social sector and our communities through ideation and hackathon style events, pro-bono tech solution delivery, consultation services, and educational offerings, by leveraging the skills and expertise of our tech workforce. The program also strives to inspire and attract the next generation of technologists, while creating opportunities and multiple pathways into technology. TFSG partners with HR, Recruiting, Corporate Responsibility, Marketing, Internal and External Communications, and Training to serve all technology staff across our global technology centers.

Key Role Functions:

Ideation: We help organizations ideate on some of their greatest, blue-sky challenges with creative tech minds from the community and our workforce.

Examples:

  • Code for Good – Hackathons offering a safe innovation space for nonprofits to propose a challenge to technologists (typically university students) who are mentored by JPMorgan Chase volunteers. We help organizations think through their biggest tech challenges, visualize blue-sky ideas for the future, and prioritize next steps in their tech journey. Technologists spend 12-24 hours ideating solutions and creating prototypes and visuals for presentation to the nonprofit at the solution showcase.
  • Data for Good Hackathons offering a safe innovation space for nonprofits to envision how technology and data driven insights can drive their mission forward. We help nonprofits think through their organizational goals, uncover trends, and review recommendations presented by teams of university students and JPMC employees.
  • Generation TechDesign-based technology challenges where students (ages 14 to 18) work in teams to ideate a technical solution to address a U.N. Sustainable Development Goal. Students learn new transferrable skills such as teamwork, communication, technology, design, and presentation skills, while being supported by JPMorgan Chase employee mentors.

Education: We collaborate with organizations and educate our communities to enhance their technology skills by leveraging the services of our tech workforce.

Examples:

  • Cyber Safety for Good – We align JPMorgan Chase volunteers to educate youth, parents/adults and senior citizens in our communities about being safe and secure online. The program is offered free of cost to schools, nonprofits and the community at large.
  • Workshops – On-demand education and skill-building workshops to enhance the skills of our community members, increase their digital literacy and enable individuals to thrive in today's rapidly changing world. The program is offered both virtually and in-person, as well as free of cost for schools, nonprofits and the community at large.
  • Nonprofit Collaborations - We collaborate with youth-based organizations (like dressCode, Make IT Happen, and SmartSTEMs) to educate and inspire the next generation to pursue technology and technology career pathways.
  • Youth Talent Network - We stay connected to young people we engage through our Youth Talent Network, which connects students (ages 13 to 18) in Hong Kong, India, Republic of Ireland, Singapore, United Kingdom and the United States to local programming, events, potential career pathway opportunities, and future recruiting opportunities.
