As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Cloud Foundational Services Marketplace (Infrastructure Platforms), you will play a crucial role in an innovative and agile team. Your responsibilities will include enhancing, developing, and delivering reliable technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable manner. Your deep technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies will be instrumental in promoting significant business impact. You will tackle a diverse range of challenges across multiple technologies and will be at the forefront of solving the most complex problems alongside your team.
Job responsibilities
- Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors
- Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
- Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
- Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
- Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes
- Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus
- Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems
- Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
- Influences peers and project decision-makers to consider the use and application of leading-edge technologies
- Adds to the team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience
- Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Advanced in one or more programming language(s)
- Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
- Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight
- Practical cloud native experience
- Experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
- AWS and Terraform Certified
- Proficient in designing and provisioning applications on AWS Services, Terraform and Sentinel
- Own Technology Debt/Tech Modernization - ability to balance the long-term "big picture" and short-term implications of design decisions
- Demonstrated end-to-end ownership for development and design of least one public cloud project
