Climate Intelligence Unit, Market Analyst/Researcher
Are you analytical, a great communicator and passionate about climate solutions? If so, we are building a new Climate Intelligence Unit.
Macquarie is already a global leader in driving the energy transition and is committed to working with portfolio companies to put them on a pathway to net zero by 2040, and all financing activities by 2050. Our work is focused on developing and managing renewable energy projects, adapting infrastructure for climate resilience and helping our clients on their decarbonisation pathways.
We are chairing the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero workstream on emerging markets and mobilization of capital, and have been engaged in a range of global initiatives such as CFLI, GCA, SMI and the Taskforce on Voluntary Carbon Offsets. Our senior leaders are sought after to support global initiatives and share their insights at high profile events.
As part of our continued efforts to lead the transition to a low carbon, sustainable global economy, an exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced subject matter experts to help drive a new Climate Intelligence Unit for Macquarie Group. This team will provide central resource to support businesses, functions and colleagues with actionable intelligence on climate, the energy transition, markets, policy and peer activity.
You will join a small, multi-disciplinary team, and work with colleagues across the Group, to enable colleagues and processes to be informed with insights briefed on market developments and produce compelling and differentiated thought leadership for clients and wider stakeholders.
You will conduct research on the energy transition, including reviews of trends in specific sectors, geographies, and key crosscutting themes. You’ll be experienced in producing high-quality content, combining qualitative and quantitative analysis, in a variety of formats tailored to use and audience. A natural collaborator, comfortable working with different types of colleagues across a diverse and global business, you’ll be confident in your ability to deliver timely, actionable insights, internally, in client facing engagements, and externally. You’ll also be comfortable engaging external stakeholders to gather information and opinions on the latest trends and continue to build knowledge and subject-matter expertise.
Preferred background:
- 2-5 years experience working as a market analyst or researcher, working in the areas of energy transition, sustainable finance, policy and/or economics.
- Demonstrated interest in and enthusiasm for the energy transition and climate action.
- Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, summarising and quantitative reasoning skills.
- Good communication skills in writing and speaking.
- Ability to learn quickly and be a resourceful self-starter.
- Keen attention to detail while moving quickly, and ability to work on multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
- Proficiency manipulating, analysing and charting data in Excel and Powerpoint.
We can be flexible on role location but have a preference for London or Paris.
