Associate Director – Stakeholder Engagement - Central - Commodities and Global Markets EMEA

The focus of this role is to promote a shared understanding of the Commodities and Global Markets (CGM) business, its value proposition and initiatives to a broad range of stakeholders both internal and external. It is a unique role which allows candidates with strong business acumen and a natural flair for communication to thrive.
Reporting to the Global Head of Stakeholder Engagement within Macquarie’s CGM Group, this position will manage the team’s activities in the EMEA and Americas region, including a team of approximately four communication staff. The successful candidate will work closely with this team and the Global Head to create and execute CGM’s strategic communications and objectives, particularly for the northern hemisphere regions. They will also engage with other leaders across the CGM business to help form the direction of the team and ensure effective management. As such, this is a role that will continue to grow and evolve.
The successful candidate will be able to develop information and concepts, communicate them effectively and build solid relationships with their team as well as senior stakeholders both within CGM and the broader Macquarie Group. They will be seen as a trusted advisor, highly regarded for their insights and expertise, reflected in their deep understanding of the business, awareness of the external environment in which the business operates, and how they would then draw on this knowledge to inform their communication decisions.
Key responsibilities
- Enhancing stakeholders’ understanding of CGM’s businesses across EMEA and Americas and the markets in which they operate
- Staying connected to external events that impact CGM and assessing relevance to CGM’s narrative
- Managing a team of communication staff and working closely with other team members across Global Stakeholder Engagement offering
- Developing relationships with key individuals in other areas of the CGM business (including the CGM leadership teams in regions), Finance, Risk Management, HR, and Strategy teams globally
- Working closely with Macquarie’s Investor Relations, Media, Internal Communications, and other teams as necessary to ensure consistency of messaging for all of Macquarie's stakeholders
About You
- 7+ years of experience in banking or professional services. An analytical, strategy, sales, or trading background is preferable
- Strong understanding of business, financial and accounting concepts, and an ability to interpret key financial data
- Good understanding of global financial markets with an ability to analyse the competitive and economic dynamics affecting financial institutions in particular
- Ideally a good understanding of prudential regulatory frameworks and the role they play in overseeing banking businesses and conglomerates
- Analytical thinker who is data driven with a curious mindset and possesses strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent team management skills with an ability to coach, build capability and skills across all levels
- Strong influencer and collaborator that aligns the team around a collective purpose
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Excellent attention to detail

- Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field of study
- CA and/or a Masters in Finance (or similar)
