Job Introduction

Southeastern are looking for a Production Support Engineer to join the team in Slade Green.

Your role will be to support production to deliver first time fixes through the interrogation of train data (EMS, XDM, RCM, OTMR etc) and the provision of scopes of work. This role works alongside the Defect Controllers (MDC) providing technical support and capturing defects as they are reported.

You will be required to support production in reducing incidents as a result of maintenance activities. Working in conjunction with technical services to understand root cause and implement quick fixes such as briefing, process improvement, best practice, coaching, improving or developing fault finding guides, pre production activities (projects) etc.

Role Responsibility

  • Proactively use train data to identify problematic units and for the monitoring units released following significant investigation/repairs for a period of six days.
  • For technically challenging faults which extend across shifts monitor progress against the documented scope of work, ensuring EMS is being kept up to date and next steps are clear. Provide a handover to the oncoming shift to ensure progress and next steps are clear thus providing continuity across shifts.
  • The role also provides support for technical issues affecting production delivery such as procedural clarification, component identification, specialised tooling etc.
  • Develop and manage a controlled data base for train software in conjunction with technical services. For engineering laptops undertake software updates and first line fault finding for issues and track rectification.

The Ideal Candidate

To be considered for the role we recommend that you demonstrate the below in your application;

  • General rolling stock experience, knowledge of planned maintenance processes and repair of rail vehicle systems.
  • Geographical knowledge of Southeastern’s routes, including capabilities and facilities available at Southeastern depots and berthing facilities
  • Technical Knowledge of rolling stock systems on Southeastern fleets.
  • General Technical knowledge of all current types of Southeastern operated Rolling Stock.
  • Knowledge of IT systems, including Windows, Word, Excel, together with a good understanding of mainframe systems, including EMS, TRUST, and hybrid systems such as GENIUS and RAVERS
  • Good knowledge of rules and regulations, particularly those applicable to DC EMU rolling stock
  • At least 3 years experience in a T&RS engineering environment
  • HND / HNC in an Engineering Discipline desirable
