About the Role

Base Location: Flexible UK & Ireland | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however need you to be able to reasonably commute to our Reading / Slough office approximately 3 days per week.

Salary: £44,195 - £50,611 + 8% performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) is a control system architecture that uses computers, networked data communications and graphical user interfaces for high-level process supervisory management. Within the Enterprise Control Centre (ECC), this allows us to remotely operate and monitor our HV assets via Remote Terminal Units (RTUs).

1. You will ensure that Enterprise specifications are met for the configuration of the SCADA system and associated RTUs in preparation for commissioning activities. With involvement in pre-commissioning activities in conjunction with Field Engineers, you will ensure end to end testing is completed between the ECC and field equipment, including tele-switching operations used to prove correct configurations are in place and ensure no safety risk to personnel or assets.

2. You will lead on investigating and resolving SCADA configuration issues during the commissioning process, assisting field staff in post-fault investigations when SCADA related plant hasn’t operated correctly. You will be involved in resolving connectivity issues within PowerOn and delivering technical solutions to allow the Control Engineer to carry out their duties in accordance with the Operational Safety Rules.

3. With responsibility for ongoing operational connectivity and control of sites, you will lead on maintenance and eventual replacement strategies for RTUs and associated switches, liaising with the Asset Management and Operational Technology teams

4. With responsibility for the management of defect records within PowerOn, you will ensure that information held is correct and up to date to ensure safety for field staff when carrying out operations. You will advise on updates to the HV diagram to ensure that PowerOn reflects permanent and temporary alterations.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

1. Working experience in SCADA specifications, design configurations and commissioning activities, including knowledge of telecommunications protocols

2. A pragmatic approach to challenges and the ability to resolve problems quickly, working either as part of a team or on your own

3. An understanding of Operational Safety Rules and the requirements for safe switching and setting to work practices

4. Knowledge of electricity network infrastructure and plant operation, as well as protection & control equipment.

5. Experience in the PowerOn editor package or similar software
