Hello, we're UW

We’re a bunch of great people working together, solving problems and having fun. Together, we strive to find solutions to help the great people around us get on with the things that really matter in life.

How? It’s simple, we take the headache out of essential home services by providing them all in one place – energy, broadband, mobile, and even insurance. That’s one provider, one account, one bill, and lots of savings.

We’re a truly unique FTSE 250 company with a business model that has real social impact at the heart of it. Being a part of the UW community you’ll join a working environment like no other - one where everyone matters - be it our customers, our partners or you, our people.

About the role

We are looking for a passionate communications professional to lead and implement market-leading internal communications across functions (divisions/departments) at UW.

This is a rare opportunity to join a high-performing team made up of wonderful people who are responsible for owning the communication of our strategy, company/function priorities and telling everyone across the business what they need to know about our products, services and operational activities.

Reporting to the Internal Communications Lead, you will work closely with our Function Leaders (Executive Leadership Team) to deliver on function communications for our Commercial Growth, Tech, Product, Legal and Finance teams - so experience and confidence dealing with senior leaders is a must.

You will thrive on managing multiple projects and stakeholders, often with short deadlines, and always be ready to suggest solutions or try something new. You’ll have the ability to keep focus under pressure, provide expert advice, create clear action plans and feel confident to challenge and suggest new ideas.

Operating at both a strategic and a tactical, hands-on level, the role will be responsible for strategy and execution, in driving understanding and commitment to business and function strategies.

What You'll do

  • Developing communication plans for our Commercial Growth, Product, Tech, Partner, Legal and Finance teams - ensuring communications activity is strategic and adds value.

  • Working closely with People Business Partners to ensure tight alignment of key campaigns and messages and supporting the delivery of function strategies.

  • Support the respective Executive Leadership team members with their leadership communications - both in function and at a company level.

  • Sharing all the great things happening within our Functions - helping to spread the word about the great work our team is delivering across the company through effective storytelling and channel management - increasing collaboration and visibility across the business.

  • Partnering with our Operations Communications Manager to align on an overall function comms strategy and approach, including the development of guidance, templates and tools to enable teams to self-serve where appropriate.

  • Embedding our newly defined North Star and Culture in everything we do.

  • Working closely with our Digital Communications Manager to ensure an effective channels matrix is in place across all functions.

  • Measure and evaluate the impact and effectiveness of comms activity to drive continuous improvement.

About you

  • You are experienced in internal communications and understand how to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • You have a track record in building and executing data-driven employee communications across a variety of channels.

  • You are able to counsel leaders; with the gravitas and credibility to influence.

  • You have a track record of translating business goals into communications goals, understanding audience perceptions, and crafting integrated communications campaigns in support of a Function’s business objectives.

  • You have experience with event production and support.

  • You have experience using platforms such as Intranets, mail management systems, Google Business Suite, Asana and Slack.

  • You understand concepts related to brand/corporate identity and employee experience.

  • You have a high degree of flexibility, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders simultaneously.

  • You are able to distil complex information into clear, concise messaging and have an eye for detail.

  • You have experience with change management and communicating key initiatives across multiple internal target audiences.

  • You have an innovative mindset – always looking for ways to improve how UW communicates with and engages employees.

  • And like all UW people, you’re motivated and ambitious, both for yourself and the business you work for.
