Job Description

We are currently seeking an Associate Scientist to join our Manufacturing team at our Waltham, MA facility working to optimize the manufacturing for enzymatic biochemical and cell based assays. Specifically, through the support of the manufacturing team through collaboration with the Process Excellence Scientist.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct experiments to identify root causes of issues with in-house manufactured products, collaborating with R&D and Process Excellence teams to update processes.
  • Address immediate manufacturing challenges caused by supply chain and production constraints, ensuring timely resolution of material shortages, quality concerns, and manufacturing issues.
  • Proactively anticipate and mitigate systemic risks, gaps, and resource bottlenecks that may disrupt manufacturing processes, working with the Process Excellence team to find solutions.
  • Organize and update standardized documentation to support manufacturing and QC of products and customer usage of our products.
  • Work in collaboration with R&D and Process Excellence to sustain product lines through the support of tech transfer and implementation.
  • Support Quality Control through root cause experimentation and document review and improvement.
  • Initiate updates and creation of functional SOPs as required
  • Maintain a high level of quality in coordination with Quality Assurance teams, utilizing Novunex
  • Collaborate with the Process Excellence team members to identify and implement process improvements and optimization, while streamlining manufacturing workflows.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Associate Scientist position in our Process Excellence team should hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in immunology, biology, biochemistry, or a closely related field. Additionally, we require a minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience if the candidate posses a master's degree, 5 years of laboratory experience if a bachelor's degree, preferably in an industry setting, involving the use of antibody and ELISA methods.

Familiarity with Lean manufacturing or equivalent methodologies is essential, as is prior experience in a Biosafety Level 2 or higher-classified laboratory environment. The role entails prolonged stints of standing/sitting, making physical endurance a key requirement.

The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to maintaining accurate and detailed records, showcasing strong organizational skills. The position involves a mix of laboratory and office settings, with 50% dedicated to the lab environment and 50% to office-based activities.
