Work Designation. Depending on your location within the continental US, this role may be hybrid or remote.

  • If you live within 50 miles of the Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA this role will be hybrid. This means you will be expected to work in the office for at least 60% of the work week. You will work from your home (within the continental US) for the remaining portion of the work week. Details of this schedule will be discussed with your leadership.
  • If you live more than 50 miles from the Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA, this role will be remote. This means you will be expected to work from your home, within the continental US. If the role is remote, there may be occasions that you are requested to come to the office based on business need. Any requests to come to the office would be communicated with you in advance.

What does it take to be successful in this role?

  • In-depth Mainframe Expertise (Om-premises and AWS Cloud): Proficient in on-premises mainframe architectures, solutions and enterprise deployments including AWS Mainframe Modernization
  • Security Standards and Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with security standards applicable to both traditional mainframe security and AWS cloud environments
  • Comprehensive IAM Solutions Experience: Skilled in IAM solutions for mainframes and AWS, ensuring secure access control across platforms
  • Programming and Scripting Proficiency: Competent in mainframe languages (e.g., COBOL, JCL) and AWS-supported languages for scripting and automation tasks
  • Analytical Skills for Security Insights: Ability to analyze security logs and patterns effectively, adapting to both mainframe and AWS cloud environments
  • Exceptional Communication Abilities: Strong verbal and written communication skills for articulating complex security concepts across all organizational levels
  • Relevant Security Certifications: Possession of certifications such as CISSP, CISM, AWS Certified Security - Specialty, and other industry recognized certifications

Education & Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Cyber Security
  • Eight or more years of information technology experience focused on mainframe and security
  • Progressive experience working within an information security environment.
  • Vendor Management Experience to include establishing and ensuring SLA/SLO levels are met.
  • Proven experience in planning, organizing and developing technical capabilities
  • Experience with regulatory and compliance initiatives such as HIPPA, PCI and advanced knowledge associated with the protection of PII
  • Experience interfacing with peer support teams (Infrastructure teams, Architecture, Engineering, Administration, Access Management, etc.)

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Education & Experience Preferred

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Cyber Security
  • CISSP, IBM Certifications, AWS Certifications

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive Security Controls Implementation: Design and oversee the application of security controls across traditional and AWS-modernized mainframe systems, ensuring defense against threats and vulnerabilities
  • Governance and Compliance Across Environments: Enforce policies and procedures for mainframe security governance, ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and standards, including NIST 2.0, SOX, GDPR, and CCPA, across both on-premises and AWS environments
  • Unified Identity and Access Management: Develop strategies that ensure authorized access to data and systems in traditional mainframe and AWS environments, managing permissions and access policies efficiently
  • Integration of Security Tools with AWS Services: Design solutions to integrate security tools with mainframe systems and AWS services, enhancing security posture through log aggregation, analysis, and real-time monitoring
  • Vulnerability Management and Threat Analysis: Conduct triage assessments and implement mitigation strategies for mainframe systems, considering the nuances of AWS-modernized environments
  • Incident Response and Recovery Planning: Lead comprehensive incident response strategy development and advise on mainframe disaster recovery and business continuity plans
  • Security Training and Awareness: Develop training programs focusing on mainframe security best practices and AWS Mainframe Modernization security considerations for all security teams supporting mainframe environments
  • Audit and Reporting for Continuous Compliance: Perform security audits and assessments, reporting on findings and recommending improvements for systems on-premises and in AWS
  • Performs other duties as required

This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting. Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate. The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $185,000.
