What does it take to be successful in this role?

  • Master the successful operation of the mail processing and other job-related equipment and knowledge of all applicable preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Broad knowledge of applicable shipping and mailing codes requirements and deadlines
  • Knowledge and ability to successfully perform all processing tasks within the department and to meet all established proficiencies, quotas, or other established productivity standards.
  • Ability to read and understand instructions, add, and subtract numbers, and make relatively straight forward comparisons between numbers and letters.
  • Ability to interact and provide information to internal and external customers and to understand oral and written instructions using good oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with concentration, speed, and accuracy; ability to maintain established service levels and meet departmental requirements.
  • Ability to lift in excess of 60 pounds individually.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, which may include overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Education & Experience Required

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Two years of job-specific work experience
  • Prior experience operating the following mail processing equipment or similar functional equipment: Strapping Machine, high speed production mail inserters, folders, mail meters, booklet makers, etc.

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operates machine(s) that automatically performs mail-processing operations; receives jobs and reviews job specifications to determine equipment setup and operating requirements; enters computer job codes, setup machines according to job specifications, loads appropriate output material (envelopes, printed documents, etc.), starts machines and makes a trial run to verify accuracy of machine setup; observes operations to detect machine malfunctions and makes adjustments as required.
  • Makes required equipment adjustments in accordance with the specifications of each job; audits jobs to ensure quality and accuracy is maintained and required financial audits are successfully completed, advises team-lead about any discrepancies identified.
  • Performs basic operators’ preventive maintenance and minor repairs to maintain machinery and equipment in good operating conditions and refers more complex issues or repair work to senior team members for resolution.
  • Performs all tasks and takes all precautions necessary to ensure that a safe and clean environment is maintained on the production floor; follows all appropriate documented safety and/or hazard policies or procedures while operating machines and other equipment.
  • Performs other duties as required and supports all other aspects of the 6S plan.

This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting. Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate. The salary range for this position is $31,200 to $50,000.
