Summary: Our dynamic team in Scottsdale, AZ is seeking a Sr. Account Manager to join their team. In this pivotal role, you'll be the cornerstone in delivering exceptional service to our valued clients, engaging in diverse verbal, electronic, and written communications. From overseeing the renewal and marketing process to crafting compelling presentations, you'll orchestrate every detail with finesse. At this level, you will be the lead on open enrollment presentations, captivating audiences with your expertise and ensuring a smooth communication process throughout. Your proactive approach will nurture strong relationships with clients and carrier contacts, ensuring our services are delivered effectively and efficiently. Depending on the size of the group, certain Senior Account Managers may have the responsibility of overseeing their own portfolio of business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Proactively cultivates and nurtures relationships with both carriers and clients, ensuring a solid foundation for collaboration.
  • Assumes a significant role in meetings and conference calls, leveraging expertise to drive meaningful discussions and decisions forward.
  • Directly engages with clients and vendors, fostering clear and effective communication channels.
  • Leads the comprehensive renewal and marketing process in close collaboration with Account Executives and Advisors, ensuring a seamless experience from inception to conclusion.
  • Conducts thorough reviews of benefit plan summaries and carrier documents, demonstrating proficiency in navigating complex regulatory language and rules.
  • May be entrusted with managing an assigned book of business, showcasing accountability and ownership.
  • Serves as a mentor to junior team members, providing valuable guidance and training to support their professional growth.
  • Cultivates and maintains strong relationships with clients and their employees, leveraging expertise to navigate various insurance coverages.
  • Establishes rapport with carrier representatives to stay abreast of available products and services, offering informed recommendations to clients.
  • Acts as the go-to resource for benefits and vendor/carrier products and services, seeking guidance from senior team members as needed for complex situations.
  • Demonstrates anticipation of client needs and collaborates with Account Executives/Advisors to proactively address them.
  • Reviews request for proposals, negotiates with carriers, and provides strategic recommendations for renewal actions.
  • Collaborates with Account Executives or Advisors to craft client presentations, actively participating in client meetings.
  • Ensures client resources and communications are up to date following open enrollment or coverage changes, maintaining accuracy and relevance.
  • Prepares documents and data for annual client compliance audits, potentially taking an active role in presentations.
  • Addresses client requests promptly, including challenges related to product or vendor service performance.
  • Ensures timely filing and completion of the 5500 form, demonstrating attention to regulatory compliance.
  • Provides clients with updates on relevant industry trends and regulatory issues, ensuring they are well-informed.
  • Articulates alternative funding strategies and provides recommendations based on client needs and objectives.
  • Offers proactive client service support in collaboration with the account management team, ensuring client satisfaction and retention.
  • Oversees client projects such as new business implementations and open enrollment processes, ensuring smooth execution.
  • Interprets plan rules to ensure compliance with Plan Documents and Summary Plan Descriptions, mitigating risks of non-compliance.
  • Provides informal leadership and training to junior team members, leveraging experience to foster a supportive and growth-oriented team environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities:

  • Proficient in benefits administration, HealthCare Reform, and staying abreast of industry trends, along with a deep understanding of carrier products and services.
  • Demonstrates autonomy and foresight in anticipating both client and team requirements, ensuring proactive and efficient service delivery.
  • Exhibits strong time management and decision-making skills, enabling prompt and effective responses to client needs.
  • Meticulous in follow-up procedures, ensuring thoroughness and attention to detail in all interactions.
  • Capable of articulating ideas clearly and concisely, both in written and oral communications, fostering effective dialogue and understanding.
  • Possesses advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, leveraging these tools to deliver compelling presentations and reports.
  • Commands attention with impressive presentation and public speaking abilities, engaging audiences and conveying information with confidence and impact.

Education and/or Experience:

  • BA/BS preferred
  • Typically more than five years industry and product line experience

Certificates, Licenses, Registration:

  • AZ Life, Accident and Health Insurance License required.
