KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – The below is a non-exhaustive list of the duties to be performed by the OHS intern.

  • Document filing, updating client information on relevant internal systems.
  • Attend client meetings with Safety/Loss Control Professionals when required.
  • Attend OHS group meetings.
  • Manage and coordinate on-line access to Resource Library, LMS, and webinars.
  • Shadowing safety consultants virtually and/or on-site safety inspections, to identify potential workplace hazards, unsafe equipment, work practices, and working conditions.
  • Document and track follow-up of actions for safety and risk control surveys.
  • Preparing and submitting internal and external reports and related documentation, including formal presentations to small and large groups.
  • Researching, preparing, and developing technical reports.
  • Assist in reviewing and developing policies, practices, procedures, and training programs.
  • The ideal candidate will also have a basic knowledge of OSHA regulations, ergonomics, and industrial hygiene.

KEY SKILLS – The below is a non-exhaustive list of skills required for this position.

  • Senior in college pursing a degree in Environmental Health and Safety Management, Occupational Safety, Environmental Engineering, Public Health, Risk Management, Loss Control or similar.
  • Good analytical, problem-solving skills and strong data analysis skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – ability to draft effective communications (emails, letters, memos, reports, instructions).
  • Computer literate: MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work well as an individual and from their own initiative as well as being able to work in a team environment.
  • Basic knowledge of Risk Control and/or occupational health and safety fields.
  • Basic knowledge of relevant local, state, and federal rules, regulations, and standards like OSHA, NFPA, DOT, and FMCSA.
  • Valid driver’s license.

The hourly pay for for this position is $20.00 - $22.00 per hour. The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
