Summary of Role:

The VP of Sales works within the Minnesota P&C team to grow organic revenue with medium to highly complex clients through an integrated selling strategy. Serves as a subject matter expert in insurance. Maintains strong relationships with NFP Advisors, carrier markets, specialty expertise, regional and corporate teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drives Property & Casualty new business expansion and growth in the Minnesota office, through collaboration with advisors, qualification of new opportunities, proposing and closing new business for current clients (cross sales) and new business opportunities, carrier relationships and market knowledge.
  • Partners with Advisors to build trust, develop sales opportunities, close deals and ensure seamless transition to service team
  • Advanced understanding of Property & Casualty business with strong technical expertise and ability to negotiate and bind cost effective insurance solutions
  • Able to convey the value of NFP’s products and services to clients and prospects including internal specialty capabilities
  • Develops strong knowledge of and relationships with specialty vertical capabilities and subject matter experts
  • Connects team members about resourcing appropriate carrier products and services, as well as internal specialty expertise
  • Stays abreast of research, and communicates key initiatives, tools, business changes, market insights, and other important news
  • Improves visibility and strengthens the NFP P&C brand in the Minnesota marketplace by representing NFP at industry events and engaging in speaking opportunities
  • Builds and maintain strong relationships with carriers and market knowledge
  • Leads by example regarding compliance with set policies and best practices
  • Exercises sound independent judgment on most matters; consults with regional leaders on important matters before taking action
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:

  • Expert knowledge of Property & Casualty carriers, products, services, underwriting, and industry trends
  • Maintains strong connections with insurance carrier community
  • Expert knowledge regarding insurance account management best practices
  • Ability to work independently and anticipate advisor team needs
  • Effective time management and decision-making skills
  • Diligent follow-up skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain relationships of trust with carrier contacts and internal team members
  • Ability to express ideas clearly in both written and oral communications
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Commanding presentation and public speaking abilities

Education and/or Experience:

  • BA/BS preferred
  • More than 7 years of directly related industry sales experience

Certificates, Licenses, Registration:

  • Property & Casualty Insurance license required representing the coverages being sold.
