Summary

As the head of NFP’s life, absence and disability leave practice, you will oversee a national team consisting of marketing and consulting experts who support both NFP offices and our clients/prospects, as well as external brokers and their clients/prospects, in seeking out and selecting the most robust and cost-efficient life, absence, and disability programs for their employees. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, carriers, vendors, and internal/external partners, as well as achieving revenue goals and delivering high-quality service. Collaboration with all defined stakeholders is necessary to deliver national initiatives effectively and efficiently.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships and continuous collaboration with clients, team members and carrier/vendor partners and be recognized as a subject matter expert in the space.
  • Attend to stakeholder requests including product or vendor service or performance challenges and when required.
  • When required, coordinate the implementation process between our carrier and/or vendor partners and clients on new business to ensure absolute successful outcomes.
  • Provide value-added consulting expertise in the applicable areas and assist with client projects, renewals, marketing, and client meeting presentations.
  • Work with internal partners to prepare and conduct RFPs to ensure best-in-class offerings for clients.
  • Prepare weekly internal updates on activity and assure that all sales activity is properly tracked and accounted for.
  • Help write and structure educational materials and client communications, including proposals, cost analysis, reports, spreadsheets, and presentations.

Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

  • Strong understanding of Life/AD&D/STD/LTD/FMLA/LOA plan provisions, underwriting, contracts and/or risk management.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with carriers, vendors, peers, professionals, and management.
  • Strong financial skills, prior experience in group disability underwriting or claims management strongly preferred.
  • Ability to translate strategic initiatives into tangible business deliverables.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly in both written and oral communications.
  • Ability to design and deliver effective presentations.
  • Strong negotiator and able to influence others.
  • Proven experience successfully managing multiple projects and producing quality deliverables.
  • Effective time management and decision-making skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving ability.
  • Customer service oriented.

Education and/or Experience

  • Minimum four-year college or university degree.
  • Minimum 7+ years of Life, Absence & Disability insurance, or related experience.
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience and success in the design/management of group disability plans gained in a consulting or brokerage environment.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of management experience, preferably in the benefits space.

  • Life and Health licenses
  • Additional industry designations preferred
