SUMMARY: Investigates claims against insurance or other companies for personal, casualty, or property loss or damages and attempts to effect out-of-court settlement by performing the following duties: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Receive initial notification of clients claim, review account instructions and begin process of claim. 2. Responsible for processing all forms of property claims including ocean marine, bonds, etc. 3. Manage the progress of the claim from first report to settlement. 4. Estimates cost of repair, replacement or compensation. 5. Upon receipt of claim/loss, responsible for completing claim file, which includes coverage verification, and making preliminary or tentative determinations of coverage. 6. Record claim information into agency management system. 7. Coordinate processing of claim with client, risk manager or designee. 8. Control service of claims. Maintain status and follow up as needed. 9. Maintain loss histories, and provide loss runs via computer interfacing with carrier. 10. Every 90 days, initiates a status or a follow up on all open claims. 11. Notifies insurance carriers of any reserves deficiencies, soliciting management assistance when necessary. 12. Responds to claims related inquiries from agency personnel, producers, etc. 13. Handle or refer insured’s question and complaints and acts as a mediator with the company, if necessary. 14. Perform related job duties as required. 15. Receives and reviews mail. 16. Pull files and match mail to files when necessary 17. Miscellaneous clerical duties may be required, such as faxing, mailing, copying, or typing first reports, etc.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Required: * Minimum ten years experience in a comparable position at either (broker or carrier) handling property and casualty claims. * Must be computer literate with proficiency in basic Word and Excel. Preferred: * College degree preferred. * Agency mgmt system exp. a plus.
