Summary: The Retirement Manager provides direction to plan sponsors to design and maintain a qualified plan to meet client needs. Also serve as a technical resource for research and plan analysis projects for both internal and external clients.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administer qualified plans.
- Process participant distributions and loans.
- Reconcile trust assets.
- Perform non-discrimination testing.
- Calculate contributions.
- Consult client with deposit/remittance of deferrals and employer contributions.
- Prepare plan documents and create best plan design to meet each client’s need.
- Perform quality control.
- Review documents and valuations prepared by other team members before they are sent to client.
- Assist the investment advisory team as needed.
- Set up new 401(k) plans.
- Determine, with the plan sponsor, the plan design.
- File appropriate government forms.
- Form 5500, Form 5330, Form 945, etc.
- Assist client during IRS and/or DOL audit examinations.
- Provide consultation to independent auditor and client during the audit of the plan’s financial statements, as needed, for attachment to Form 5500.

- Assist with the management of team through counsel, guidance and coaching. Impart knowledge, facilitate staff development and provide training and learning experiences.
- Assist with evaluation of performance and work efforts; provide input to team leader and participate in performance appraisals process; if necessary, assist in managing and improving underperformance.
- Demonstrate excellent team skills, positive attitude and high ethical standards.
- Monitor IRS/DOL filing/testing deadlines
- Add new business through referrals from other firm personnel, investment advisors and other outside referral sources.
- Schedule prospecting meetings to discuss the business and provide information to the potential client.
- Communicate with internal investment advisors to discuss services available to prospective clients
- Comply with continuing education requirements; participate in professional organizations, independent study, etc.
- Integrate new knowledge and skills into daily work and share with colleagues as appropriate.
- Acknowledged and sought out by others due to extensive, in-depth knowledge and expertise in field.
- Maintain current knowledge of local, state and federal practices and laws; evaluate and advise on the impact of new related strategies, programs, and/or regulatory actions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a specialized field such as accounting, business, finance, other related field.
- Minimum of seven (7) to fifteen (15) years of directly related work experience in the field of retirement plan administration and consulting. Must possess a QKA, APA, ERPA or CPA; FIS Relius and PensionPro software experience preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership and practice development abilities along with high level of technical competence in field of specialization, ethical knowledge and commitment. Supportive of team and firm upper management decisions.
- Effective oral, written, interpersonal and computer software skills. Proven organizational and problem-solving skills.

The base salary range for this position is $71,000 – $97,000. The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
