About the role

We are seeking a full-time Lead Manufacturing Specialist at our brand new, state-of-the-art facility in Eugene, Oregon where we develop and manufacture ELISAs and other antibody-based kits and reagents. As a member of the In-House Manufacturing department and reporting to the Manufacturing Services Manager, the Lead Manufacturing Specialist will be a technical and team leader responsible for providing additional capacity as well as guidance within the team. This role will work on continuous improvement and strategic projects within the Manufacturing Services department as well as cross-functional collaborations with the Batch Production, Quality Control, and Inventory Management teams.

The successful candidate will directly contribute to the planning, production, testing and troubleshooting of products and intermediates according to detailed and documented instructions. They will work collaboratively to coordinate the manufacturing and testing of intermediate materials that are part of our varied and growing catalogue of products for life science research and diagnostic applications. Predominantly operating in a laboratory setting and requiring the use of personal protective equipment (lab coat, eye protection and gloves), the environment is fast paced and provides ample opportunity to master a diverse range of biotech, manufacturing, and testing skills.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Assist directly with antibody conjugation, cell culture, antibody purification, and inventory maintenance
  • Conduct routine problem solving & implement solutions that remove daily issues faced by the team
  • Confirm and coordinate the team’s daily operations
  • Liaise with internal customers and stakeholders (Supply Chain, New Product Development, Batch Production, and Quality Control) to establish production priorities and lead continuous improvement projects
  • Coordinate and assist with the training of new employees
  • Approve documentation changes with QA
  • Author, optimize, and maintain departmental SOPs
  • Provide insight into process exception meetings

About you

  • Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry, bioengineering, biology, chemical engineering or a related field, or the equivalent industry experience
  • Laboratory experience and working knowledge of antibodies, proteins, cell culture, and immunoassays
  • Proficient computer skills and expertise in the Microsoft office suite
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated experience with a variety of laboratory related equipment
  • Well organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to operate in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • 3+ years working in a laboratory-based manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge and experience operating in a lean manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity working with ERP software (Oracle, SAP, MS Dynamics, etc)
