About the Opportunity

The Senior Manager, Employee Relations is a pivotal leadership position at Australia Post, responsible for managing complex Employee Relations (ER) cases and investigations across the enterprise. This high-impact role requires expert-level skills in case management, investigation, and legal compliance, ensuring that sensitive and complex ER matters are handled with the utmost professionalism and thoroughness. As the Senior Manager, you will leverage your experience to guide and coach the broader ER & Case Management team, offering expert advice that not only helps mitigate risks but also drives improvements in operational efficiency


What You’ll Deliver with Us

In this role, you will ensure the seamless handling of intricate employee relations matters, from investigations into complex issues like bullying and harassment to representing Australia Post in external tribunals. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders and external parties such as unions, legal teams, and tribunals to drive successful outcomes. Your leadership will help maintain high standards of conduct, influence a positive organisational culture, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations. You’ll also provide strategic advice, ensuring the company’s approach to ER remains forward-thinking and aligned with best practices.


You’ll Also:

  • Take charge of high-risk investigations, including those related to a heightened legal risk, ensuring all cases are resolved in a timely and effective manner.
  • Shape and execute strategies that improve case management efficiency, reduce business risks, and enhance organisational culture through expert advice and coaching.
  • Provide mentorship to current Case Manager, providing them with the tools, knowledge, and guidance necessary to excel in their roles.
  • Represent Australia Post in industrial and employment tribunals, negotiate outcomes with external parties, and maintain strong relationships with unions and other key stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve service delivery, reducing financial and operational impacts related to case management.


About You

You are highly skilled and experienced with a deep understanding of employment and industrial law, complemented by advanced investigative expertise. With strong experience in handling complex Employee Relations matters and identify and manage legal risk in a commercial manner, you bring a strategic and solution-focused approach to managing sensitive issues. Your ability to influence and collaborate with both internal stakeholders and external partners ensures that you drive successful outcomes in a high-stakes environment. You have a strong legal background, particularly in navigating tribunals and compliance obligations, and are committed to upholding the highest standards of fairness and integrity.


What You Bring:

  • A degree in Law and experience in employment and industrial law, with a deep understanding of legislative, contractual, and compliance obligations.
  • Proven experience in leading investigations and handling complex cases, with a strong preference for candidates with experience in conducting hearings or briefing counsel in courts and/or tribunals.
  • Build, collaborate and establish credibility with senior leadership teams, external legal partners, unions, and employment tribunals, ensuring strong, productive relationships and managing key external engagements.
  • Broad awareness of industry trends and the external market for talent, suppliers, and partners relevant to Australia Post’s operations, ensuring ongoing legislative and regulatory compliance.
