THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Manager Mining, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies, systems, processes, and procedures to ensure program and service delivery aligns with production objectives and contractual obligations within the mining services team.

Your key responsibilities include

  • Engage, consult with and supervise contractors (up to 10) to ensure the delivery of essential services.
  • Supervise the construction of ash cells to ensure compliance with containment standards and mitigate storage risks.
  • Oversee coal stockpile activities, including quality control, scheduling, reclaim, restock, and area maintenance.
  • Manage waste and freshwater resources
  • Supervise the maintenance of heavy earthmoving equipment.
  • Provide support and collaborate with mechanical and production teams
  • Collaborate with the Manager Mining to ensure approved expenditures align with desired outcomes, such as spillway construction and ancillary project works.
  • Act as a liaison between contractors, third-party service providers, and site-based production and maintenance teams, the Coordinator ensures smooth workflow coordination and timely resolution of any obstacles to meet operational priorities.
  • Steps in and acts on behalf of the Mining Manager during periods of absence.


This is a fixed term (until February 2025) position at our Kogan Creek Power Station.

ABOUT YOU

To be Successful in this position, you will:

  • Supervisory/Management qualification and/or appropriate experience
  • Trade qualification
  • Dam Safety qualification
  • Stock pile management experience desirable
  • Manual Motor vehicle Drivers Licence
  • Coal Mining Standard 11 and S1, S2, S3 – for Supervisors or willingness to obtain.
  • First Aid / CPR (preferred).
  • 8 + years’ experience in power industry or heavy industry
  • Demonstrated broad understanding of mining operation functions and mechanical equipment specifically related to open cut mining and waste
  • Ability to apply system thinking to achieve optimal outcomes within the Mine and Ash Cell portfolio
  • Proven experience as supervisor with the ability to utilise sound knowledge, skills and capability to apply preferred operating practices.
