About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Solutions Architect to join our team. As a subject matter expert, you will support Data and Analytics on the Azure, Databricks, Microsoft fabric Platforms and associated technologies, designing technical solutions to meet business requirements. You work closely with Architects, Modellers, Report developers and other Stakeholders to identify gaps, develop best practices, techniques, and methodologies for all data models (Conceptual, Logical & Physical) to underpin Essential Energy’s new Azure cloud-based Data Platform.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect and design solutions to meet business requirements, ensuring they are fit for purpose and deliver business value.
- Review and assess current data and analytics systems and data architecture, recommending solutions for improvements.
- Collaborate with eTech Enterprise Architecture, and data modellers/engineers, report developers, team members, and partners to ensure clear definitions and agreement on data requirements.
- Scope, size, and prioritize activities required across multiple projects. Provide technical advice across the Business Intelligence and Azure Data Platform landscape.
- Reverse engineer data models into Business Intelligence aligned data models.
- Develop design documents, architecture artefacts, support guides, and handover documentation.
- Review and maintain Architectural documents, best practices, and provide training and guidance to team.
- Review handover documentation solution and platform and maintain them as part of Architectural documents and best practices.
- Define, champion, and mentor project members, Data Modellers, and Engineers in the use of sound Data Principles, Frameworks, and Best Practices.
- Lead project onboarding and assurance activities, ensuring solution designs comply with technical quality standards.
- Assist Enterprise Architecture in defining policies, processes, guidelines, models, and technologies for data solutions.
- Identify opportunities for re-use and standardization across projects and initiatives.
- Promote respect, equity, diversity, and inclusion, adhering to the highest ethical standards.
This role is a two year fixed term opportunity and can be based anywhere within Essential Energy’s operational footprint.
About You
You are a skilled Data Solutions Architect with expertise in the Microsoft Azure data platform including Databricks. You are proficient in data modelling methodologies and standards, data engineering, report development and designing solutions that meet business needs. Your strong analytical and communication skills enable you to convey technical information effectively to diverse audiences. You are a proactive problem solver who works well both independently and as part of a team, managing relationships and consulting with stakeholders to ensure solutions deliver business value.
Further to this you will have:
- Proficient in the Microsoft Azure data platform technology stack (Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Bricks, Power BI).
- Proficient in Microsoft Azure Cloud offerings (IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS).
- Experience in modern data platforms and integrating legacy systems into data platforms.
- Understanding of Conceptual, Logical, and Physical data modelling.
- Strong analytical ability with excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously while collaborating with the broader team.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills for managing relationships and consulting with stakeholder groups.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Information Technology, Data Science, Data Management, or Software Engineering, or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and/or relevant qualifications.
