- Salary of $82,635.67 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation, commensurate with skills and experience.

The Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled City Compliance Officer to join our City Safety & Amenity team within the Enabling Services Directorate. This role plays a critical part in ensuring public safety, managing animal control, enforcing local laws, and maintaining construction compliance strategies. As a key member of the team, you will contribute to maintaining a safe and harmonious community by applying a balanced approach of education and enforcement. Your responsibilities will include handling a variety of compliance-related tasks and offering high-quality customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Enforce relevant Acts, Regulations, and Local Laws, including the Local Government Act, Domestic Animals Act, and Environment Protection Act, in accordance with Council policies and procedures.
- Investigate breaches of legislation, collect evidence, and prepare reports for legal proceedings, where necessary.
- Perform inspections and audits on registered animal businesses to ensure compliance with relevant codes and legislation.
- Assist in controlling nuisance or dangerous animals and manage emergency situations as required.
- Assess applications for permits and registrations and ensure that complaints are handled promptly and in line with legal requirements.
- Investigate and resolve breaches related to Council's Building Sites Guidelines and Local Laws, liaising with builders, owners, and contractors to ensure compliance.
- Supervise children at designated crossings and traffic lights during nominated hours on school days.
Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will hold a Certificate IV or Diploma in Statutory Compliance or a related discipline, accompanied by relevant work experience. You will have a strong understanding of animal control and local laws enforcement, with the ability to interpret and apply legislation such as the Domestic Animals Act and Local Government Act. Additionally, you should possess sound investigation skills, including conducting interviews, gathering evidence, and preparing reports. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong communication abilities, both verbal and written, are essential.
