  • Salary of $38.74 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation (commensurate with experience).

The Opportunity

The Infringement Appeals Officer plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient processing and management of City Safety & Amenity (Parking, Local Laws, and Animal Management) Infringement Appeals. You will be responsible for reviewing and determining appeals in accordance with Council's Appeal Guidelines, providing written notifications to applicants, and supporting the team with various administrative tasks. This position involves liaising with external agencies such as VicRoads, Fines Victoria, and the Department of Justice while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the timely processing of income appeal notifications
  • Provide excellent customer service to both internal staff and Council residents
  • Undertake necessary administrative tasks and processes to support the efficient operation of the City Safety and Amenity team
  • Assess and process City Safety & Amenity infringement appeals in line with Council's Appeal Guidelines and prepare correspondence advising of decisions.
  • Prepare court briefs and investigative files to support prosecution in Magistrates Court and assist in preparing case summaries for appeal reviews.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and databases for infringements and appeals.
  • Provide general administrative support to the City Safety & Amenity team as required.
  • Liaise with external agencies, including VicRoads and Fines Victoria, to facilitate the processing of infringements and appeals.

Skills & Experience

A nationally recognised certificate in administration or relevant experience.

A sound knowledge of the Road Safety Road Rules, Domestic Animals Act 1994 associated legislation with issuing infringements, preparation of court briefs, investigation reports on case files, processes and procedures associated with Fines Victoria and the Magistrates Court is desirable.

A sound knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages, together with proficient computer skills, written communication skills and ability to prepare external correspondence.

Knowledge of software applications such as CRM, TRIM, and PATHWAY is desirable
