Manager Compliance and Investigations
The opportunity
Reporting to the Leader Enforcement and as part of the Enforcement Senior Leadership Team, you will apply your proven contemporary leadership experience and capabilities to lead a team of Employer Regulation Consultants and Investigators.
The position
As the successful candidate you will be responsible for leading investigations of suspected criminal and administrative breaches under the Return to Work Act (SA) 2014, involving workers, employers, and providers. You will ensure a coordinated approach to enforcement of the Act for the Scheme. You will also play a pivotal role in contributing to and protecting the Scheme’s integrity by enabling participants to comply with legislative obligations through application of regulatory options.
Success in the role is achieved through leading and mentoring a dedicated and experienced team, building strong relationships with key stakeholders, and providing leadership and advice that supports business objectives and ensures the success of the Scheme primarily in relation to sections 18, 19, 20, 25, and 26 of the Return to Work Act 2014. Additionally, you will engage in projects and programs, respond to observed trends, Agent referrals, and injured worker concerns.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading quality triage through timely assessment and prioritisation of matters through collaboration with relevant Regulation stakeholders.
- Maintaining currency of policies, processes, practices and support systems.
- Applying legislation and policy within scope of the role.
- Ensuring investigation timelines are set and maintained and outputs are of high quality and can withstand scrutiny.
- Managing investigations resources, systems and processes and overseeing management of contracts.
- Building effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
This role will be offered as a full-time fixed term position for 3 years.
About you
As the ideal candidate, you will demonstrate a strong work ethic, integrity, resilience, and discipline. You will have proven contemporary leadership experience and have or display the capability to develop a comprehensive understanding and application of the Return to Work Act 2014 in a short period of time. You will possess a high level of ability to build relationships, influence key internal and external stakeholders to achieve strong regulatory outcomes across compliance and enforcement activities, and to work independently will be essential.
You will excel at drafting high-quality correspondence, supported by well-reasoned rationale, and be proficient in collecting and analysing data in preparation of documentation that supports administrative decisions, on regulatory matters. You’ll bring to the role your strong negotiation and influencing abilities and passion for nurturing staff development, fostering a culture of wellbeing, and driving excellence in service delivery.
Special requirements/Conditions
- Some intrastate travel and out of hours work may be required.
- Diploma in Government Investigations, Law Degree or equivalent applied experience (highly regarded).

The total remuneration package for this position will be negotiated with the successful candidate and commensurate with your qualifications, skills, and experience, and will align with our Senior Officer remuneration.
