Our Water Group is growing and we now seek a Junior Project Manager or an Engineer aspiring to become a Project Manager. In this position you will join our Project Management team, where you will play an integral role amongst a diverse group of highly skilled professionals that ‘design with community in mind' to deliver program and project excellence for our water clients in both metropolitan, regional, and remote contexts.
You will play an important role in the development and delivery of a range of water infrastructure projects that aim to sustain and further the prosperity of our nation’s communities whilst working with Australia’s major metropolitan water authorities, bulk water supply authorities, regional and local water utilities, industry leading bodies, and supporting key sectors including social infrastructure, energy and resources, Defence and the environment. You will ensure that projects are delivered to client expectations, timeframes and specifications, whilst contributing to the financial success of Stantec’s business. And you will manage project change, finances, schedule, quality, health, safety and risk, whilst driving diverse teams to deliver exceptional outcomes.
As a Junior Project Manager, your responsibilities will include:
Collaborate with senior project managers/leaders to plan, coordinate, and execute key projects.
Develop detailed project plans, monitor timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
Provide regular status updates and reports on project progress and outcomes.
Prepare and monitor project safety plans to ensure Stantec’s SaferTogether culture is upheld
Drive process improvements and streamline workflows to optimise project outcomes.
Identify and alleviate project risks to ensure efficient delivery.
Conduct project meetings with stakeholders to set expectations and discuss results.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, and internal teams.
So, what do you need to bring to take your career to the next level?
Tertiary qualifications in engineering, science, or related discipline.
Up to 5 years experience as a Project Manager or an Engineer aspiring to become a Project Manager.
Previous experience working within in a consultancy is highly regarded.
Experience engaging with clients in any one or more of the following: Government, Water, Environment, major construction and infrastructure projects
A sound understanding of project management frameworks, preferably with Project Management qualifications/certifications (e.g. PMP) or working towards attainment
Broad appreciation and interest in the multi-disciplinary aspects of water infrastructure, with a keen interest to be involved in either networks & conveyance, treatment & resource recovery, and/or dams & hydropower infrastructure project delivery.
Strong commitment to safety and understanding of WHS best practice and obligations.
Excellent organisation and time management skills, with a developing to advanced level of financial competency.
Commitment to collaborative and ethical behaviour in a client-facing environment.
Strong ability to prioritise tasks and multi-task to ensure deadlines are achieved.
Experience in managing contracts and subcontractor agreements.
Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
