The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Telecommunications Engineer to join our team in Brisbane. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, maintaining, and enhancing telecommunications systems used in the rail industry. This position requires an individual with strong technical expertise in IP/MPLS networking and the ability to provide valuable advice on engineering change requests, maintenance documentation, and training needs analysis. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring that telecommunications systems meet the highest standards of safety, performance, and efficiency within the rail sector in Queensland.
The role is based at our Brisbane CBD location, and we also welcome a hybrid flexible working model.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of telecommunications systems used across the rail network.
- Provide expert advice and support in the design and implementation of telecommunications solutions for rail infrastructure.
- Review and prepare technical documentation, including engineering change requests, reports, and client standards documentation.
- Conduct training needs analysis and review/produce relevant maintenance documentation.
- Provide leadership in the review and update of telecommunications systems to ensure performance optimisation, reliability, and safety.
- Act as a subject matter expert for telecommunications solutions, providing guidance and expertise to junior engineers and other stakeholders.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Cisco CCNP or higher certification with proven expertise in IP/MPLS networking.
- Extensive experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining telecommunications systems, specifically within the rail industry.
- Strong technical writing skills, including the ability to prepare Engineering Change Requests, reports, and documentation.
- Proven ability to conduct training needs analysis and contribute to the development of relevant maintenance documentation.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and effectively collaborate with a range of stakeholders.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience:
- Telecommunications Design Engineer Level 2 (Queensland Rail Competency).
- In-depth knowledge of railway telecommunications systems and their operational requirements.
- Experience reviewing and interpreting client standards documentation, including new or updated guidelines.
