Safety Vendor Excellence Director
Job Title: Director Global Patient Safety Process and Vendor Excellence
The core purpose of AstraZeneca Patient Safety is to add value to AstraZeneca products, provide clear science-based guidance for investigators and prescribers to safeguard patients as well as the success of our business. Patient Safety covers the entire clinical life cycle of a drug from first time into man to withdrawal of a product from the market.
What you’ll do
Summary of the Role
This role will be part of the team leading transformational business change in the way
we deliver local Patient Safety activities. The role will lead the oversight of the new
Global strategic vendor for adverse event handling. Including the onboarding of new
markets, management of vendor performance and the implementation of new or
improved processes.
What you'll do:
- Responsible for day-to-day oversight of the Global strategic vendor for adverse event handling. Ensuring the vendor is meeting AstraZeneca and External requirements.
- Driving process innovation and improvements within the vendor operations.
- Working closely with the wider vendor management team, and local marketing company PS teams to ensure effective 2-way feedback.
- Point of contact for Global Patient Safety and cross functional colleagues in relation to the Global adverse event handling vendor.
- Promotes and implements continuous improvement activities across all areas of vendor operations to optimize productivity and quality.
- Works closely with Global Process Owners to ensure local and global alignment across outsourced areas of patient safety.
- Drives the implementation of a new model for the local handling of adverse events across all markets and across the AstraZeneca and Alexion portfolio. This role will be a subject matter expert and a key interface between the Business and operational vendors in order to deliver operational excellence.
- Understands and is aware of new Patient Safety trends and developments and uses
these to improve local safety processes/meet external regulations.
- Supports audits and inspections concerning local safety and vendor activities/processes.
- Completes assigned training and maintains personal training records, dedicates time to self-development and works with manager to develop a dedicated personal development plan.
Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Essential Requirements:
- Science degree or equivalent healthcare professional qualification
- Extensive experience of working with and managing outsource service partners within Patient Safety
- Experience working in Patient Safety in an above-country role.
- Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of international patient safety regulations.
- Substantial Patient Safety experience at a market level
- Person with a CAN-DO attitude who brings in genuinely innovative ideas to the table and willing to effectively collaborate with local and global market stakeholders to deliver business transformation
- Verbal and written English skills are mandatory
- Ability to work flexibly across Global time zones & cultures
Desired Skills
- Extensive knowledge of the latest technical and regulatory expectations
- Evidence of implementation of small-medium change projects within the pharma industry
- Evidence of knowledge or implementation of innovative technological solutions to common Patient Safety challenges
