The Macclesfield Campus is an essential part of AstraZeneca’s UK Operation and the 2nd largest operational site within the company’s global network. It is approx. 100 acres with around 4500 people working on site. The site is unique in the AstraZeneca network having Operations, R&D, G&A, IT and others on its site.
About the Opportunity:
Welcome to External Quality (EQ), a global Quality organization within AZ Operations where the community is vibrant, and we never stop developing. Our University Placement Opportunity is for an Quality Associate to help us manage supplier quality oversight for externally sourced materials. This is a place where you will feel included in the conversation, where every voice is heard and makes a difference.
What you’ll do:
As an Quality Associate you will support the quality oversight to ‘Contract Manufacturing Organisations’ (CMO’s). This is a diverse and interesting role working with suppliers, contractors and a broad range of AstraZeneca internal sites and functions. You will collaborate with colleagues and customers across many countries and interact cross-functionally with supply chain, technical, regulatory and project teams in AZ.
Some examples of activities are:
- Supporting all Quality activities that are directly related to the Quality Management of Suppliers. This includes, but is not limited to, the Quality System oversight and/or performance of change management, quality issue management, Quality Agreements (establishment and maintenance) between AZ and External Suppliers and between EQ and AZ Operations Sites.
- Support to the Quality Professionals involved in Quality Supplier and Product Supply Chain Management, including Annual Assessments, Quality Agreements, trending and reporting of data, assessing, reviewing and improving quality systems at Suppliers, attendance at Quality Review Meetings.
Qualification, Skills & Experience
Required:
- Currently undertaking an undergraduate or integrated master’s degree in pharmaceutical science, chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering or other related discipline, with the opportunity to spend 1 year in industry starting in September 2025
- Strong planning and organisation skills
- Ability to see opportunities, learn, and apply that learning to drive compliance and improvement
- Good aptitude for problem solving
- Good collaboration and teamworking skills
- Confident communicating with a wide range of stakeholders
Desirable:
- Familiarity with the concepts of cGMP/ GxP, Quality Systems and the pharmaceutical supply chain environment.
- Understanding of industry standards such as Pharmacopeia, ISO standards, etc.
