Introduction to role

As a Digital Lean Partner at AstraZeneca, you will be responsible for applying the AstraZeneca Lean Six Sigma framework within Development Quality. You will ensure alignment across cross-functional processes and work operationally with individuals, teams, and leadership to embed the AZ Lean Framework into business processes.

Your role will involve coaching, arranging training, facilitating workshops, and leading process improvement initiatives. We'll need you to operate independently with minimal supervision, driving continuous improvement and problem-solving across functions. We will also task you with embracing AI technology ensuring that opportunities are taken to integrate AI into the business area.

Accountabilities

  • Understand the relationship between operational requirements, corporate strategy, and customer satisfaction.

  • Coach and arrange Lean Six Sigma training to build and maintain required capabilities.

  • Assist management in identifying improvements to achieve strategic business objectives.

  • Facilitate leadership teams in removing barriers to Lean Six Sigma-focused management.

  • Identify, drive, and facilitate opportunities for improvement in Development Quality processes and operating models.

  • Collaborate with other Lean coaches to drive improvements and implement the AZ Lean framework.

  • Ensure the deployment and utilisation of the AZ Lean Six Sigma framework and mentor practitioners.

  • Lead the Development Quality lean superusers network and drive continuous learning in applying the AZ Lean Six Sigma framework, to include monitoring internal & external trends.

  • Conduct Lean Maturity reviews and develop Lean plans.

  • Provide coaching and support to lean champions and digital champions in Development Quality

  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of Lean SixSigma methods and tools.

  • Build strong customer relationships with other functions and participate in GxP audits/initiatives.

  • Develop solutions to complex problems using strategic vision and analysis.

  • Support Issue Management Teams on project-specific issues.

  • Operate confidently as part of a global organization with common processes and ways of working.

  • Promote a strong lean culture that emphasises standardisation, simplification, and continuous improvement.

  • Build up lean & digital culture by practising lean/digital/automation solutions and highlighting the business benefit

  • Build & implement lean and digital capability development plan to generate value.

  • Facilitate business analysis to identify digital opportunities for site improvements base on understand of current situation of the business.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Appropriate scientific degree with experience in a complex environment, preferably within a pharmaceutical development organization

  • Solid understanding of statistical process control concepts, data analysis, diagnostic tools, and techniques

  • Experience with using SharePoint, creating digital solutions using power platforms eg power automate

  • Demonstrated knowledge of data analytic and visualization tools such as R, Python, SpotFire or Tableau.

  • Working knowledge of the DMAIC process; preferably Six Sigma Black Belt certification from a recognised program

  • Proven capability to lead process improvement efforts using Lean SixSigma Tools

  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating teams and groups in lean, six sigma, and process improvements

  • Collaborate with business, IT, and data scientists to improve models and insights. Apply market and industry knowledge to transform user needs into user stories and acceptance criteria for the team.

  • Effective internal consulting skills in a global organization at all levels of management

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
