About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for an Employability Officer to join Edinburgh Airport’s People and Planning team on a part-time basis. The role is 20 hours and we are flexible with how you work these hours, whether that be over 5 days or condensed to suit your needs.

Supporting delivery of the ‘Scotland’s Best Business Pillar’ in our Greater Good strategy, you will play a key role in helping us deliver our programme of engagement with young people in the local community as well as get involved in our diversity and inclusion work. This is an exciting time to join the team and be involved in shaping our future initiatives.

There will be a requirement to attend career events on site and off site which may take place over evenings or weekends from time to time.

About the recruitment process

Following the online application process, successful candidates will be invited for an interview and asked to prepare a presentation. This will be with the Head of Talent and Inclusion and other relevant stakeholders from the business. Please note we anticipate interviews to take place early January 2025.

What you'll be doing
  • Develop initiatives to allow school pupils and university/college students to learn about working at Edinburgh Airport to support the future talent pipeline. This may include work experience, school leaver programme or insight days with virtual and in person options. You will be responsible for the design and delivery of these programmes and engaging with airport teams to generate involvement.
  • Coordinate delivery of regular STEM sessions (at least 5 per year) and other ad hoc airport visits with local schools including liaising with education partners and internal Edinburgh Airport colleagues. This includes managing the school bookings in line with criteria, booking venues, transport and catering and promoting the programme internally and externally.
  • Strengthen follow up and evaluation methods and resources for all outreach activity.
  • Support our communities via partnerships with local charities or groups with a particular focus on connecting with disadvantaged young people and workers and supporting them into employment or learning opportunities at the airport.
  • Support our diversity and inclusion programme of work including coordination of internal team engagement sessions and participating in awareness raising events with our Diversity Champions group.
What we're looking for
To apply for this role, you'll need:
  • To be able to travel occasionally in the local community (Fife, the Lothians and Forth Valley) to deliver engagement activities.
  • A keen interest and passion in social inclusion and creating equal access to employment opportunities.
  • A background or interest in one of: social inclusion, recruitment, education, community engagement or HR, gained through relevant experience, research or study.
  • You are a clear and enthusiastic communicator with the ability to engage a variety of stakeholders from young people to managers.
  • You are a strong administrator with proven experience.
  • Ability to work both independently with limited supervision and collaboratively in a team, using a solution-oriented approach, with effective time and delivery management.
  • Excellent organisational skills, in particular when handling multiple priorities.
  • You are comfortable presenting to large and small groups of internal and external stakeholders.
The following additional items are nice to have:
  • Experience working with and building relationships in local authority schools.
