Payroll Accountant

Role Purpose:
Reporting to the Head of Payroll Reporting, you will be responsible for providing support and assistance with the record to report financial processing and reviewing for UK payroll financial entries leading to complete and accurate financial information and production of financial reporting for all entities served by the Shared Service Centre.
Key Focus Areas:
- Reviewing and processing financial transactions and data for payroll, ensuring the data used is consistent and accurate, the appropriateness of all inputs and outputs, and the completeness, consistency and accuracy of all data and ensure accounting entries are appropriately classified in accordance with internal policy, accounting standards, nature of expenditure or form of control.
- Calculation of monthly payroll-related accruals
- Preparation of monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Review and production of regular standardised financial performance reports.
- Investigating financial queries arising from the process and working with finance business partners to ensure the accuracy of financial data.
- Preparation and amendments to detailed process notes and ensuring these are updated regularly.
- Responding to queries from auditors and finance colleagues and support process improvements to ensure the timely and accurate processing of financial transactions.
- Ensure strong communication between transactional payroll team, and UK Finance Business Partners.
- Any other task allocated by the Head of Payroll.
Required Education and Experience:
- Newly qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent) /qualified by experience.
- A team player with experience of working in an SSC would be an advantage.
- Must have a good understanding of UK pay and payroll related accounting.
- Excellent Excel skills and experience of managing large data sets.
- Ability to manage own workload and prioritise effectively and experience of meeting tight month end deadlines and working under pressure.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience of designing and delivering process improvements.
- Experience of providing services to multi-site and multi-service businesses.
- Great Plains experience preferable but not essential.

- On time month end close.
- Balance sheet reconciliations completed on time and to an acceptable standard.
- Quantum and value of month-on-month payroll correction adjustments.
- Quantum of SOx failures/issues.
