Group Reporting Accountant

In the UK the Freightliner Group operates under a number of legal entities including Freightliner Group Ltd, Freightliner Heavy Haul Ltd, Freightliner Ltd, Pentalver Transport Ltd, and Pentalver Cannock Ltd.
Purpose of the Role:
- This is a newly created role to provide additional support to the Head of Group Accounting and Reporting, due to changes made within the organisation.
- The primary purpose is to ensure that the Group Financial Reporting under IFRS is accurate for quarterly reporting and to support in managing the audit process for the statutory accounts.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Oversee the monthly consolidation including UK trading divisions and overseas divisions,
- Monthly checks on consolidation entries to ensure accurate consolidation of the Group financial data, including intercompany eliminations.
- Supporting the audit process for the group financial statements and establishing relationships internally to assist where required. It is also important to maintain the relationship with the external auditors.
- Write new process for all divisions for intercompany transactions to ensure best practice.
- Assist in preparing the Group consolidation financial reporting under IFRS including quarterly reporting to the shareholder, and annual financial statements.
- Assisting in ad-hoc requests for information to support stakeholders in the business, including advising on accounting matters under IFRS.
- Taking the lead on complex accounting transactions with a specific focus on their impact on the consolidated accounts.
- Responsible for producing statutory accounts for certain legal entities.
- Liaising with the internal and external auditors
- Assist with management of the ledger close process, maintaining the Group chart of accounts, and recording FX rates for translation of overseas entities.
Experience required:
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), or equivalent with post qualification experience
- Strong academic record with good numerical, IT and written skills with an up-to-date knowledge of IFRS
- Strong Excel skills and experience working in ERP systems.
- Group Consolidation experience is required.
- Strong attention to detail and forward planning skills
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of key business issues is desirable.
- Experience of finance department within large organisation
- Experience within the transportation/logistics sector would be advantageous but not essential.
