The Head of Rewards & Benefits plays a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive rewards programme that attracts, retains, and motivates a high-performing workforce. You will leverage your expertise in compensation structures, employee benefits, and retirement planning principles specific to the nuclear sector. Your strong problem-solving skills, analytical mind, and commitment to program effectiveness will be crucial for ensuring a competitive and comprehensive rewards program that fosters a positive employee experience

Day to day duties:

  • Conduct thorough market research and analysis to benchmark compensation and benefits offerings against industry standards and competitor practices.
  • Design and implement a competitive and comprehensive rewards programme, including base salary structures, variable pay plans, and a diverse range of employee benefits, tailored to the specific needs and demographics of the nuclear workforce.
  • Conduct regular reviews of the compensation and benefits programme, identify areas for improvement, and propose data-driven solutions to enhance programme effectiveness.
  • Proactively identify and resolve employee concerns regarding compensation and benefits, utilising strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Stay up-to-date on legislative changes, emerging trends, and best practices in compensation and benefits to ensure the programme remains competitive and compliant.
  • Manage the budget allocated for compensation and benefits programmes, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficient resource utilisation.
  • Oversee the administration of all employee benefits programmes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in claims processing and enrolment procedures.
  • Provide clear and concise communication to employees regarding compensation structures, benefits details, and programme changes through various channels.
  • Partner with HR leadership and internal stakeholders to develop and implement communication strategies that ensure employees understand and appreciate the value proposition of the rewards programme.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee compensation and benefits data, adhering to strict data privacy regulations and security protocols.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and service providers for various benefit programmes.
  • Accountable for being the key HR stakeholder on the Remco and developing papers for discussion and approval.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:

  • Possess a deep understanding of compensation and benefits principles, including salary structures, bonus plans, and performance-based incentives.
  • In-depth knowledge of employee benefits administration, with a focus on nuclear industry-specific benefits (e.g., shift differentials, radiation exposure benefits, retirement savings plans).
  • Proficient in utilising compensation and benefits software tools and data analysis techniques.
  • Familiarity with relevant pension regulations and retirement planning strategies for the nuclear industry workforce.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, and managing comprehensive rewards programmes.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance considerations for compensation and benefits in the nuclear industry.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to analyse data, interpret complex regulations, and present information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with internal stakeholders, employees, and external vendors.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong commitment to confidentiality and data security in handling sensitive employee compensation and benefits information.

Qualifications

  • Currently hold or is working towards a HR qualification.
  • Accredited Korn Ferry Hay evaluator.
