Eligibility:
- Citizenship: You should be a citizen of the UK, EU, or EEA, or hold the right to work in the UK.
- Residency: Candidates must have resided in the UK for at least three years.
- Visa Status: We regret to inform you that we are unable to consider candidates on Tier 1, Tier 4, or Tier 5 visas.
- You are not in work or education
- You have little or no work experience
- You are aged 16-19 (OR 24 with an EHCP) and qualified below Level 4 (A level)
- Please note, placements on the programme are subject to funding eligibility.

Greater Anglia Customer Service Pre-employment Study Programme
Kickstart your career with our government-funded Pre-Employment Study Programme! We’re looking for young people who are currently not in work, training, or education to join us in gaining valuable skills and experience sought by employers. Each year Greater Anglia offers a selected number of young people to jump on board to experience working life on the railway
This exciting 12-week programme combines hands-on experience at one of our hub stations towards a qualification. You’ll work alongside experienced colleagues and management at locations such as Chelmsford, Colchester, Cambridge, Norwich, London Liverpool Street, and Stansted, who will support and introduce you to the ins and outs of the trade.
In partnership with Central Training Group, Greater Anglia will help you build confidence and prepare for future employment opportunities, including apprenticeships. Many of our past participants have successfully transitioned into roles within Greater Anglia with some continuing their development through our apprenticeship programme to further develop knowledge, skills and behaviours
What this will lead to:
After successful completion of the programme, not only will you gain much-desired work experience to add to your CV, but you will also receive a certificate of completion and a letter of reference to support future job applications.
In addition, you will be awarded the following accredited qualifications:
Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Customer Service
Level 1 Award in Employee Rights and Responsibilities
Level 1 Award in Foundation Learning and Employability Skills
Functional Skills in Maths and English
Digital Skills
