This is an exciting new opportunity within our Compliance Analytics team which, for the right candidates, is a fast track pathway to a long and varied career within the Compliance Chief Operating Office (COO) function. This is an Apprenticeship opportunity which will see the successful candidates join on an 18-month Level 3 Apprenticeship programme.

Compliance Analytics provide industry-leading Analytics Management services at a strategic and tactical level for all markets and lines of business, which robustly protects our Customers and HSBC from Financial Crime and Compliance risk and enables HSBC to grow safely.

Applied Analytics help to uncover hidden behaviours, connections and meaning in our data. We help our businesses understand what vulnerabilities existing with the organisation. We design, develop and deploy controls to mitigate risk and support our wider community with data analysis, development and visualisation. We also work with our Research & Development teams to develop and engineer new market leading analytical products and deploy them at scale across the globe. This permanent, entry level role with an ideal opportunity for anyone who wants to gain experience in data science and develop data analysis, development, planning and governance skills in an exciting and supportive environment.

We are currently seeking individuals to join this team as a Data Analyst Apprentice

Data Analysts are responsible for supporting the business to manage compliance risk through the effective use of analytical and data science tools and techniques.

The role requires the assessment of business requirements to understand what outcomes are needed from planned activities. Analysts will work with multiple stakeholders and teams to understand the data they will analyse and help prepare or transform it.

They will use different tools and techniques to identify opportunities, trends and different behaviours which they will use to help measure and mintage risk.

Key elements of the role include;

  • Support the delivery of projects; typically working on smaller projects/assignments
  • Cleanse and manage data
  • Integrate data feeds from disparate sources
  • Employ different tools and techniques to analyse and interpret data
  • Quality assure data and analytical outputs following best practice guideline
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand requirements or translate and present output
  • Respond to incoming requests for information in a timely and efficient manner
  • Be adaptable when finding analytical solutions to problems, to analyse and triangulate data in innovative ways and present findings clearly to a range of audiences
  • Assess risks and identify mitigating controls
  • Document analysis and present data in different visual formats
  • Follow model risk management best practice
  • Identify and escalate issues​​​​​​​

The base location for this role is Sheffield, but applicants from across the UK will be considered.
