As the Business Control Manager (BCM) for Markets QR, you will be leading their business controls agenda; participating in key initiatives across a diverse set of issues that will have a direct impact on the organization. You will continue to evolve with a focus on the design governance, ownership, enhancement and execution of controls. Partnering with Business, Model Risk and Governance, Operations and Technology you will find sustainable solutions to mitigate operational risk. As you continuously analysis the business’ risk and control environment to identify significant gaps and weaknesses, you will ensure controls are properly designed and implemented.

Markets QR BCM covers a variety of QR teams in Trading across the globe (including: Equities, Rates, FIF, CEM, CPG, FX, Credit and SPG, Commodities and Central Solutions), which offers estimations solutions to the trading desks. These solutions including models and tools used in valuation, electronic trade execution, risk and sensitivities analysis, counterparty credit exposures, and artificial intelligence/machine learning.

Job responsibilities

  • Review Issues and action plans from CORE (Controls and Operational Risk Evaluation)
  • Own and ensure delivery of strategic control initiatives
  • Review, challenge and substantiate control ratings and risk results
  • Facilitate the execution of various Front Office Supervisory controls, attestations and exception management
  • Conduct Model Scope Restriction violation reviews along with Model Risk Governance and Review Group (MRGR), Conduct regulatory controls related to model use and development
  • Ensure appropriate controls are in place to support new business initiatives and/or initiatives driven by regulatory or policy change
  • Provide the business with assistance related to audit, control testing and regulatory exams

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Organizational skills; manages and prioritizes multiple tasks across different time horizons within deadlines
  • Ability to work with senior stakeholders, guiding, challenging and influencing as necessary
  • Understanding of operational risks, controls and how to apply controls to different processes and businesses
  • Investigative mind-set, able to see issues at both a high-level and in detail, and understand applicability across the business
  • Analytical, problem solving and process re-engineering skills
  • Understanding of end to end product life cycle for technology development
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)

Preferred qualification, capabilities, and skills

  • Previous financial service experience in controls, audit, quality assurance, risk management, compliance or model governance
  • Proficient knowledge of control and risk management concepts with the ability to design, create, and evaluate a Risk & Control Self-Assessment in conjunction with business partners
  • Understanding of model development and review cycle
  • Interests in quantitative research models and analytical tools
