As a Business Risk and Controls Associate within our global digital product development team, you will play a crucial role in shaping our controls agenda across various focus areas such as Onboarding, Fraud, and Financial Crime. Collaborating closely with Product and Operations, you will engage with the business to devise innovative risk management solutions and enhance customer experience. Your responsibility will also include ensuring the integration of appropriate controls into relevant business processes and customer journeys, all within a dynamic start-up environment backed by a leading financial services provider.

Job responsibilities:

  • Engage with stakeholders to evaluate and perform an end-to-end analysis of the business’ operational risk and control environment to identify significant control gaps, weaknesses and resolutions in order to reduce financial loss, regulatory exposure, and reputational risk
  • Identifies opportunities to enhance controls and processes, making them more effective and efficient over time
  • Identifies risks and issues and successfully navigate through to completion
  • Sets the career on Auto-Grow by overlaying your self-cultivated technology, process management and operational risk skills to support the development of the Control and Operational Risk Evaluation (CORE) environment including operational controls libraries
  • Reviews and analyzes program-related data frames (e.g., KRIs/KPIs) to proactively identify existing and emerging operational risks to business-related programs and strategies
  • Partners effectively with colleagues across the firm, business, operations management, legal, compliance, risk, audit, regulators, and technology control functions to drive consistent and rigorous operational risk practices and Control programs including Control Committees, risk mitigation, key risk indicators, control design and performance evaluation

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • 1-3 years of financial service experience in controls, audit, quality assurance, risk management, or compliance advantageous
  • Working knowledge of control and risk management concepts with the ability to design, create and evaluate the operational risk and control environment in conjunction with business partners
  • Developing understanding of the EMEA banking industry and regulatory environment
  • Ability to understand a process and associated risks in order to design effective controls, solid critical thinking, attention to detail and analytical skills, ability to analyze data-driven situations to support the formulation of appropriate conclusions
  • Clear and concise write-up of risks, issues, root causes, remediation's, risk mitigants and control enhancements
  • Self-reliance and willingness to "own" problems and creatively find solutions
  • Strong interpersonal skills and strong collaboration and relationship building skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
