Materials Controller - Southampton

Salary £27,500 p/a

A vacancy has arisen for a Materials Controller within our stores department in Southampton.

Reporting to the Depot Stores Manager, this role involves carrying out daily store’s duties, general housekeeping, assisting with site maintenance and forklift tasks. The successful candidate will form part of the depot stores team to support the engineering functions.

The applicant must be able to demonstrate a commitment to safety and an understanding of safe working practices, compliance to company standards and safe working procedures are followed.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Adhere to health & safety and local safety policy requirements
  • Provide material controller duties to the Stores Manager
  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping to ensure a clean and safe environment
  • General site maintenance duties
  • Forklift truck duties as required
  • Road delivery to include collections from suppliers and other Freightliner depots

Requirements

  • Commitment to safe working practices
  • A general maintenance background
  • Experience with basic hand tools
  • Knowledge of COSHH will be beneficial
  • Vehicle Driving Licence
  • Forklift Licence

The applicant should be a safety conscious and motivated self-starter, a fully versatile team member who has well established experience in the store’s environment or a similar logistics background.

Working hours are 39hrs Mon-Fri days.
