About the Role

Base Location: Flexible UK & Ireland | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSE offices or depots around the UK and Ireland.

Salary: £44,100- £66,100 + Performance-Related Bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

The Business Development Manager for DCDA (‘Data Collection, Data Aggregation) & BEI (‘Business Energy Intelligence’ Platform) within SSE Digital Services is a key, central role at the forefront of SSE’s digital and net zero journey. It will shape, grow and nurture a pipeline of new and exciting opportunities that will enable our customers to deliver against their net zero ambitions.

In anticipation of market wide half-hourly settlement across the energy industry, we also have serious ambitions to target rapid growth in all areas of digital energy optimisation and energy data services. Key to this will be the forging of exciting new partnerships and emboldening existing relationships across a diverse range of businesses, suppliers and TPIs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote our extensive DCDA and energy platform and optimisation services to secure new and exciting growth opportunities that deliver value.

  • Develop, grow, influence and nurture a diverse sales pipeline of businesses, suppliers and TPIs with a view to supporting & driving forward their net-zero goals and strengthening their green credentials.

  • Directly coordinate and influence proposition building and lead the participation in tenders, ensuring that our green & net-zero credentials, digital services & data capabilities are at the core each bid.

  • Expertly surveying and monitoring the energy market and industry to capitalise on energy data, platform and energy optimisation related emerging technologies and solutions for the benefit of our customers.

What do I need?

  • SSE thrives on nurturing diverse talent, and so we welcome enthusiastic, passionate and driven sales and business development experience from all industry backgrounds.
  • Have confident and assured stakeholder engagement and networking skills, in order to build, grow and nurture genuine business relationships with net zero ambitions in mind, particularly when dealing with local government and authorities, universities, large infrastructure owners and other various business sectors and sizes.
  • Sound judgement and initiative - with the ability to interpret, analyse and disseminate complex, sensitive information.
  • Familiarity with value-led proposition development – building bespoke and tailored value propositions across a complex range of technologies and solutions that focus on energy optimisation.
  • Experience in developing and managing sales pipelines, targets and bid registers, ensuring value, quality of opportunity, green credentials and net zero ambitions remain central to all customer interactions.
  • Strong commercial acumen, governance and risk management experience.
