About the role

Base Location: Aberdeen, Dundee or Perth

Salary: Up to £45,136 + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

As a Transmission Technical Services Field Unit Technician, you will join a team of highly skilled colleagues working predominantly within the high voltage substation environment. You will assist with the capital delivery programme and with the maintenance of our existing protection and control systems. This is a pivotal role within the business, ensuring we build and maintain the highest standard of network for our customers.

The duties and responsibilities of the Technical Services Field Technician are:

- Support a team of Protection and SCADA Field Engineers.

- Protection and Control panel wiring and modification works.

- Basic protection relay testing and maintenance.

- Multicore cabling and panel steelwork modifications.

- Maintaining protection stores and arranging calibration of test equipment.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- A technical qualification to City & Guilds/SVQ level.

- Previous experience and technical knowledge of control and protection panels within a substation environment.

- Sound understanding of reading and interpreting protection schematic and wiring diagrams.

- Experience of carrying out testing and fault-finding on secondary wiring and auxiliary equipment.

- A full UK driving licence

Depending on experience and progress within the role, there may be an opportunity for progression to become a trainee protection engineer/protection engineer.

Due to the 24/7 nature of our networks, you may be required to work away from your base location on occasion and assist in a variety of ad hoc activities.
