About the Role

Base Location: Flexible Scotland | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however, need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSE offices in Scotland – Inverness, Aberdeen or Perth.

Salary: £53,100 - £79,700 + car / allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Project Manager to join the team and lead the delivery of exciting large capital projects across our Transmission business in the North of Scotland with values ranging from £10m - £200m. The initial projects identified for these roles are in the North East of Scotland, but future opportunities / projects exist across the North of Scotland. Project Managers can be based out of any of our key locations with 2/3 days on site presence expected once the construction phase is underway.

Experience in the Electrical Transmission industry is desired but experience in managing major complex projects from other industries, coupled with the desire and ability to learn will be equally considered.

The key duties & responsibilities will be:

- Leading the SSE Transmission team and working alongside multiple external contractors, to ensure project excellence is achieved to successfully deliver on our promises.

- Managing the refinement and execution of large capital projects, ensuring the safe delivery to programme, cost and the necessary quality.

- Apply and adhere to our Safety Management Systems, best practices and the SSEN Transmission Large Capital Projects (LCP) Governance processes.

- Demonstrate alignment with the SSE Safety Culture and core leadership values.

- Align delivery of the project to the SSEN Transmission's RIIO-T2 Business Plan and our 5 clear goals.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- A strong engineering or construction background, ideally with Transmission experience, and a proven track record in the successful delivery of major projects.

- Experience of the reporting and management requirements that come with such a role and an in-depth understanding of the administration of the NEC3 suite of contracts would be an advantage.

- An understanding of developing and managing integrated project programmes. Experience of the tendering processes for the engagement and management of suppliers including multi-disciplinary contracts.

- The ability to accurately forecast and control costs.

- The ability to understand industry legislation, health and safety legislation (CDM) and SSEN Transmission Company policies and procedures.

Due to the location of our projects, there is a need to have an applicable driver's licence.
